Good Stuff
Got the order really quick and The Mary Washington Crowns are the biggest, nicest ones I have ever got, planted them the day I received them in my already blended soil and will update when they come up which I'm sure will be soon, I will be buying from handpicked nursery again, very happy with the quality of the asparagus crowns . I am in Woodland Washington, and we just downsized so I had to start my asparagus patch all over, I will have 150 crowns after I plant these and the 25 purple plants I ordered after i received these. Thank you Handpicked nursery!!!!!

Health of crowns. Timely delivery.
Crowns arrived in a timely fashion. Appeared in good condition. Were planted next day as directed. No signs of growth as of yet. It has been 8 days since planting the crowns. The temps have been cold and gray and rainy since planting. I hope to see growth soon as the temps are starting to get warmer.I look forward to sharing my asparagus endeavor with you as it grows. The weather has warmed the past 2 days and the crowns are now sprouting well. I am very pleased with the growth. Thank you for healthy productive crowns.

100% would buy again. Every single crown lived despite my worst efforts
I purchased 25 crowns, back in late April 2024. It was already a little late in the season to plant them in my area (central NC) but figured I’d give it a shot anyway. Well shortly after I ordered them I found out I had to leave town for work so when they arrived I was out of town. We also got a (surprisingly hot for late april) heat wave when they were delivered. The box of crowns sat out in direct sunlight for two 85 degree days before my buddy could go by and move them to my fridge. They stayed in my fridge for 2 weeks until I got back home. By that point it was mid May, which is way too late to plant them in my area, and I figured they were probably dead anyway after baking in the sun for 2 days then sitting in my fridge for a few weeks, but I figured I’d already prepped the bed so I might as well give it a shot and see. Well to my surprise every single one of the 28 crowns I received (24 big ol fatty crowns and 4 small ones that were kind of dinky) sprouted. I was shocked: I did everything wrong but somehow they actually lived. It’s now Late July and all 28 crowns are still growing vigorously, even the 4 small ones. I have drip tape irrigation which is set to run 2x/week which seems right (we have clay soil so I’m trying not to drown them). I took the photos tonight, July 21, 2024, which is about 2-1/2 months after I planted the root crowns.I really can’t wait until next summer when I can start eating some of these guys.TL;DR: I ordered 25 crowns and received 28. Then did a terrible job planting them and I did pretty much everything wrong that could be done wrong yet somehow all 28 crowns are growing and doing great. Couldn’t be happier!

12 roots were nice and big the other14 were not
All arrived alive. I received 26 roots. Sizes were inconsistent. 12 were very hardy with big roots. The rest varied from medium to small roots some might even seem like 1 year old crowns cause of their size. In any case I’m mostly satisfied because i have ordered from different vendors and have gotten varyimg sizes. But it would be nice for the roots to be more consistent. Do listen to people’s advice on adding sand otherwise they will die cause of bad drainage. And plant 12 in appart. Roots will get huge whithin a year or two.

Dead Asparagus Crowns
Ordered 50 asparagus crowns, however I only received 37. Of the 37 crowns, only 13 came up and I have grown asparagus many times before and never had this issue. The package took a long time to arrive. Don't know if it was a USPS issue or sending them too cheaply. Many had mold on them when I opened the package. I washed each crown to remove the mold, however my guess is they were already dead.

Wow! Quite pleasantly surprised!!!
Let me start off by saying I’m very particular and I very seldom write reviews unless I receive an exemplary product. I purchased the 2 YO purple passion as well as the Mary Washington asparagus crowns, and boy was I pleasantly surprised! Kudos to the seller, because I was pretty nervous about purchasing asparagus crowns on Amazon and you by far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking to purchase these for themselves. You can see by the pictures how large the crowns were and quite honestly, quite a few of them already had the white tips of asparagus starting to grow off of them. I’m going to hold off and wait a few weeks, for cooler temperatures, because I live in SW Ohio and we are being hammered with 90+ degrees. I’m sure that these will feed my family for many years to come!!!! Highly recommend!

Nice product. Lots of life! Good quality. Straight from the nursery!
Just received my asparagus roots today.I was a bit apprehensive at buying something like this from Amazon. I was concerned about the roots becoming dried out from the warehouse storage. In this case, it looks like it WAS from a nursery! The packaging was good. And, the roots looked good. Some of them already had sprouts! They look healthy. Not dead. In fact, they are large, so the 2nd yr old seems perfect. I should be getting some sprouts in a month. There was also instructions included along with a bag of “secret sauce” to be mixed in the water that the roots will temporarily be placed. So far, so good……….I loved everything about this purchase.I’ll report back ( now Aor 7, 2024) with the results of how they did afterwards….. sprouting, I am speaking of.
