Linda Shelnutt Review: Real Eye Opener! - Great educational tool for me. Have known the skin is porous and soaks in topically (from cosmetology school years ago). But the concept of magnesium applied to the skin was a perfect way to get it into my 89 year old mother that doesn't like many tastes. She lives in an adult family home so it is not easy giving something new to digest, because it also has to be approved by her medical doctor and he has to write orders for the home to follow in dispensing. I started giving her magnesium chloride flakes and several tablespoons liquid magnesium chloride in foot soaks 1 time per week. And I followed up with the magnesium lotion, applied to her feet and legs. She is fairly healthy for her years but has advanced glaucoma and has become quite hard of hearing, she has been having frustration issues and some anger outbursts at the staff from time to time. I believe the magnesium is going to help her disposition and help nutritionally. I think that magnesium is a "core nutrient" and even the plants cannot produce chlorophyll without magnesium (according to the book). Also have just recently discovered that vitamin B12 is very important for hearing, eye sight, immune system and so many other things. (from book: "Could It Be B12?" by Sally M.Pacholok and Jeffery J. Stuart, 2nd edition.) Dr. Mercola has a great B12 mouth spray (slight cherry flavor) that gets it into the body right away. This is important because as we age our digestive tract cannot absorb nutrients like we used to. Mom is going better, so I am very pleased. My daughter-in-law has diabetes, so glad this book has also addressed that issue and so does B12 book. Get this book it is wonderful! There are plenty of references and testimonials from many health care disciplines with regards to a vast array of illnesses, diseases and health concerns. Many of these references refer to treatments and supplements that can be used together for better results. While I found the book both helpful and interesting I would liked to have seen less testimonials and more practical information regarding the practice and use of these other modalities. As more of us question the established medical treatment which is often sub par and getting worse we are often forced into adversarial relationships doctors who will not listen or worse. We need the practical information both to engage the discussion and also when it falls on deaf ears to move forward with confidence on our own.
