Maybe because it’s larger than what people think? I have a 24 pound big cat and have been traveling with him in a medium size metal crate. Crate is too big and I think he would prefer something smaller so he feels safer because he hates to travel. We’re typically in the car no more than 2.5-3.5 hours. Have looked at a number of pet carriers because he’s so big that most the small crates are too small, he would destroy a soft crate and the larger crates are too big. Found this one and it was purrfect. He can stand up and he can turn around because he’s a cat, even though he’s morbidly obese he’s amazingly bendy and squashy. He also didn’t allow me to put it together before he claimed it. I had to assemble it with him in it and assembly was very easy, great design. Excellent sturdy construction, we do not plan on traveling in a plane so I can’t speak for that, the “certificate” it came with saying it was plane compliant was dated 2013. Things may have changed since then but there’s no way an animal is getting out of this without assistance. If you’re planning to travel on a plane, just try to make sure there will be no loose monkeys because they could definitely figure out how to open the door. We will be taking a trip fairly soon and I hope that he is happier in this than he was in the metal crate.
