I have read the book periodically, and have been astounded with the results.. I'm currently half way through the book, and after I read a section, I do trial and error photos to perfect the settings and adjustments...Recently I traveled to a vacation spot and took over 1000 photos across a weeks time, using the tips and techniques stated throughout the publication... the camera has features that I didn't even know existed and I'm truly thrilled that I have been able to read up and perfect the techniques. Now mind you, I am only halfway through the book! I cannot wait to read the rest of this book and be able to get full use out of this astonishing camera... It is thorough, yet it is written for the beginner. The author includes straightforward descriptions of virtually every button and menu item as well as a lot of good examples of how the various features could be used. If you are looking for lots of creative ideas on how to take great portraits, or stunning landscapes, then this isn't the book for you. If, however, you are seeking to become well acquainted with the function of every feature so that you can exercise your own creativity, or at least gain competence in operating this feature-laden camera, then click that "order" button. One example that comes to mind is the subtle but important distinction made between the vibration reduction feature and the motion detection feature. I find it difficult to "flip" from one section to another and look at both at the same time on a disc. Printing it was out of the question because of the number of pages. So finding this book was a godsend. It is clear and easy to understand. My issues with any camera manual remain the same however, they all scatter information about the same process in different places in the manual. I will say that Mr. White does a better job with this than others I have seen.
