Relatively simple to install if you know what you’re doing and how it works.
This is not a WiFi controlled device. It plugs into your own WiFi controlled plug. What this does is provide a way to use either your wall switch to turn on the fireplace or the WiFi controlled plug to control the fireplace without having to eliminate either. Our fireplace installer 24 years ago used wire nuts to connect the wall switch’s two wires to connect to the gas valve on/off low voltage wires. The wires from the wall switch were small diameter around 21ga and the control valve wires were around 16 ga. I had a boxed assortment of spade connectors so was able to add them to the bare wires. Then they could connect to this device. I did not want to cut the device’s wires in case there was a problem.

Awesome! Controlling a gas fireplace with Amazon Alexa or Google.
This worked!!! First of all, there it's VERY little information of hooking up a gas fireplace to a smart device. So here's how to do it... First of all, this is for MY gas fireplace and yours might be different. Background: 1. My fireplace was on a light switch with 2 leads. 2. Turning off the power to my house by flipping the main breaker did NOT turn off my fireplace switch. 3. My fireplace is controlled by the pilot light powering a thermocouple (or something like that). 4. The gas fireplace outputs 12 millivolts, I saw in the fireplace manual that the fireplace was 12V - and I called the manufacturer and they verified that it is 12 millivolts and not 12 volts (they also verified that they are never mankind a smart switch for my model of fireplace). I tested the fireplace light switch with a multimeter and it shows 0 amps and 0 volts and some resistance - even if the circuit is on or off (house power is 110 volts, which is equal to 110,000 millivolts). 5. Hooking my fireplace of 12 millivolts to a 110,000 smart switch would probably have fried the circuits in my fireplace and fried it - Which would have been an expensive mistake. 6. A 12 millivolt power is about equivalent to a AAA battery. 8. I determined that I needed a switch that did NOT provide more volts, and that only completed or broke a circuit. 9. I figured al this out by googling how gas fireplace is worked, talking to some electricians, and several very helpful email responses from the vendor that sells this switch. 10. Now to talk about installing the switch. 11. I hooked the multimeter up to 2 wires that were the same color on the new switch and verified they did NOT output any amps, volts, and resistance. 12. I took 2 wires that were the same color from the new switch and connected them to the 2 wires that were hooked up to my old light switch. 13. I fished a Long usb cable through my wall to an outlet (aka plug) that was below it. 13. I hooked up the end to the switch and the other end of the USB cable to the power brick. 14. I hooked up the power brick to a smart plug. 15. I plugged the smart plug into the receptacle (aka the plug) in the wall. 15. I used the directions from my smart plug to connect the switch to the Smart Life app. 16. The Alexa could then find the switch. 17. I can now turn my head fireplace on and off with my voice using my Amazon Alexa. 18. Enjoy my notes and I hope this guides you on your path!

Works great with one small problem…
This was super easy to install except for one thing. I have outlet boxes under both my heatilator fireplaces, but none will power the smart plug. I have a blower under one fireplace plugged into a junction box with 3 outlets, but only the blower seems to get power. Weird.. Under the other fireplace I have a box with 2 outlets, but the smart plug won’t even insert halfway. I read there are thermal discs in these outlets that only open up when fireplace reaches a certain temperature. That wouldn’t work either, so I had to order a usb cord extension and plug into an outlet outside of my fireplace. Not ideal, but everything worked great as the rest of the hookups were easy. Now we can lay in bed and let Alexa turn on and off the fireplace. If someone can suggest how I can get power in my other fireplace with the blower and three outlet junction box I would appreciate it, as running an extension from that fireplace won’t work.

Awesome switch
This switch plus a smart plug (we used Wyze) effectively replaced a $220 WiFi module our fireplace manufacturer sells. One big caution…. When I first plugged in the switch, it did not work. After a bit of troubleshooting, I found the supplied USB cable was defective. I simply used a USB cable I had laying around and everything worked fine. I would suggest setting up your smart plug, then connecting this switch and testing before connecting everything under the fireplace. The switch has a small light that turns on/off and the switch clicks when working properly.

Best Smart Home Fire Place Switch!
The media could not be loaded. Check out my review video for this. Took me about five minutes to install maybe even less works flawlessly with Alexa and an Alexa smart plug. It also works simultaneously with the on and off light switch if you want to use that manually instead great design no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended if you’re a smart home designer like myself.

Works perfect for my Heat-N-Glo fireplace
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using home automation products for over 25 years, going back to the old X10 days. When I bought my current home 15 years ago I really wanted to automate my gas fireplace but it was always complicated and expensive. I was so thrilled when I came across a YouTube on this simple device!Literally plug this in-line with your wall switch switch underneath your fireplace, add a switch and you’re in business! There’s several great instructional videos out on YouTube if you have any doubts. You do need a switch that’s compatible with your home automation system for this to work. I used one I already had programmed and now I have access to the fireplace with Alexa and in HomeKit (Siri) and my phone. Great product!

Works for a few years
My first unit lasted for about 4 years until it was no longer turning on the fireplace. The unit itself was turning on but the fireplace would turn on 1 out of 10 times. It would be nice if it came in an enclosure.

Awesome piece of technology
My house has voice command Heat/Cool, lights, window coverings, and security system. Now with this I can also use my Amazon Alexa to turn my fireplace on and off. Works great and was a breeze to install.

Small and nifty device
I got this after searching many solutions for automating my gas fireplace. It’s very easy to install just 2 wires needed for my setup but it accommodates different connections for fireplaces. If you are not sure just watch the video in the link that it comes with the order. You will need to buy a separate smart plug. But because of the safety of automation of a fireplace you need to be careful which plug you buy. Most of them will turn on after a power failure which is a safety hazard if you are not home and your house looses power and your fireplace comes on after the power is restored. I found out and tested couple that I own and found out that the Amazon plug os safe to use. It will shut off and stay off during power interruptions. This makes sure that your fireplace is not lit if you don’t intend it to be lot. Also Amazon plug has a thermal protection if it gets too warm it will switch off. With this I’m sure my fireplace is safe to use with automation. And it’s nice to tell Alexa to turn on and off the fireplace.

This works with faux fireplaces (lights and motor)
This works for faux fireplaces if you follow these instructions. Take the back cover off the fireplace and the small door on the back . On the device, replace a female plug with a male plug (to fireplace wires) and replace a male plug with a female plug (to fireplace dashboard). Unplug the “light “ and “hearth” female plugs from the fireplace dashboard. Plug in the unit so that the 2 new female plugs on the unit plug into the dashboard. Note both female are on the same side of the plug (ie out wires). Then take the former fireplace female plugs and put them into the 2 new male plug in the device. Note the male plugs are on the other side of the device ( in wires). Put on the back cover and put the device usb wire out the small door opening . Put the door back on. Plug in the usb to the adapter and a smart plug. In summary, you want 2 female plugs on one side of the device and 2 male plugs on the other side. As such you need to replace one male and one female to the opposite sex The device comes with one male and one female on one side and one male and one female on the other side. The replacement sexes are at hardware store with blue plastic cover size 16-14. Just cut, strip, replace and press closed with a tool.

Works exactly as they say, very happy it made it shipped to Canada...
Used it on my has fireplace that is low voltage wired only.No neutral wire at switch and not line voltage as stated so options come down to this approach or similar to get a smart fireplace by saying OK GOOGLE etc.I was on the fence. It is pricey by the end of it but then again only just a bit more than getting say a really good smart light switch (which again in my case wont work). So i got it...and glad I did. The maker should hurry up and sell this design because they have a slick setup and it doesn't pause in operation which was really surprising.I chose to disable the wall switch as this was actually the primary reason, we have a spectrum kid around and he flicks switches all day....fixed his wagon! Thanks again, it's made decently just watch the connecting of microusb (recommend usb-C for better design but hey what do I know).Recommended.PS full disclosure, I have a lifetime in the trades and this was a very simple install. Takes less than 15 mins. That being said you may/will need:1.Philips longer screwdriver/screwgun2. Electric tape3. An idea how to get into your fireplace, remove cover and access under4. Wire cutter/stripper5. An active electrical plug under your fireplace (yes it's likely there but check first)PS: update, had a refresh of router on the wifi and had to reinstall the smart plug that powers the unit. No big deal. Whole Google home setup another story 🙄
