Are there instructions for clearning the water from the pipes in the fall for winter preparation?

I plumbed my air compressor into the sprinkler water line then added a shutoff valve near the compressor. This way I can first turn off the water valve in the basement, then go out to the compressor in the garage, turn the pressure regulator down to about 60psi, and then open the valve, allowing the sprinkler system to be pressurized with 60psi of air. Then open each sprinkler valve one-at-a-time and allow the air to push the water out of the lines. Depending on the size of your compressor tank, you may have to wait for the pressure to build back up before opening the 2nd 3rd.... valves.

Are these heads the sam version?

No, these are the standard 5004-PC, for the SAM (version w/ check valve) go here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084D1CF1M?ref=myi_title_dp Or enter B084D1CF1M into the search field

What size is the threads?

Standard Pipe Threads. They are universal to ALL sprinkler system PVC elbow connections used in the installation of outside sprinkler systems.
