They're made of good quality steel. The thickness is probably "medium" in a UK situation, so they are genuinely useable. The handles are nasty and uncomfortable, but nothing you couldn't solve with some shrink wrap tubing.The finishing is very rough, and they will hang up in tight keyways, but if you have a set of reasonable sandpaper - say 200-1000 grit, they're easy to finish up yourself and get to a respectable level.
