Quality Tool!
This 3/8 ratchet is my go-to over many! Allows great access and is just a quality tool all around. Easily comparable to a snap on or matco tools ratchet at a much lower price point!

Roto ratchet
I bought these with the swivel head for the ease of spinning down nuts on longer studs. With the way the head rotates it’s different than a normal flex head ratchet. Works better sometimes. A good addition to my box. Ratchet mechanism is nice and smooth, cushioned handle is comfortable but hard to clean.

Good but could be more Snap On like inside but then that costs more
I bought the 3/8 ratchet for one specific use that I do many times a day. The torque I put into it is pretty high for this size ratchet; on the order of 22 to 30 ft/bl.I have used it every work day for a month and no problems. But that is not why I am reviewing. I came to say two things :1. I bought the set because the dif between the individual 3/8 and the set with the 1/4 was $4. I would be crazy to not get the set even though I didn't have a specific need for the 1/4.Ha, ha, ha . . . the first time I used the 1/4 it "broke". Meaning let go and slipped around and would not catch enough to even moderately tighten a fastener.2. I swear I read some where here, but can not find it now, that someone said they didn't like these ratchets as much as their old ones because they couldn't take them apart.Well.Since I had nothing to loose and wasn't going to try to get a replacement for my dead 1/4 I took mine apart. See my photo. One needs two picks similar to the ones in my photo. Two surprising things I found when I took it apart. I had put in like ten very small drops of super light Starrett instrument oil when I first got the ratchets. There was no trace of the oil; there was a hint of pasty grease but hardly any. Did the oil run back out while in my tool tray ? Possibly. Second it seems a few chips of dirt or black colored metal had been on the very shallow ratchet teeth in the body and had cause the ratchet pawl to not seat into the mating teeth. There was a corresponding mark on the pawl. I used one of the picks to dig the stuff out of the teeth, there was hardly any but enough to cause problems. I oiled the pawl and put some on the teeth in the body and put it back together.I would have liked to have seen some sort of seal to keep grit out (and lubricant in). I believe the Snap On regular ratchets have some seals. I have never had a need to take one of mine apart. I am not a big ratchet user. For the kind of pro work I do I use nut drivers with sockets, speeders and hinge joint "braker bars" almost exclusively except for the one task I bought the 3/8ths for as stated above.Anyway it is possible to take these ratchets apart and worth the trouble. My 1/4 is functioning as it should again.UPDATE : 7-26-15 I've had these over a year now, daily use on the 3/8 drive ratchet, and going strong. Not a hint of a problem.Over all I really like my Gear Wrench ratchets and other Gear Wrenches. Do you realize they make really large open/box Gear Wrenches ? I have a 36 mm that has revolutionized one of my regular operations. BRILLIANT ! !

Awesome for the price
For the money they’re as good as snap on. Bold statement but yeah. I’ll buy these instead

double check your on and off
Excellent ratchet! Same quality and dependability as the overpriced ones. Wish I could ask the previous reviewer if they had the ratchet set all the way to the on setting. When switching from on to off or vice versa the ratchet will hit a neutral position and will not tighten or loosen. It feels like the gears are stripped, but if you can loosen but not tighten it sounds like the ratchet was not set all the way to the on position, explaining only getting the bolts to finger tight. Definitely worth every penny especially with the price I got it for.

Try them
This set has made me love roto ratchets. I've used the 1/4 daily for almost a year with no problems. If you havnt tried gear wrench ratchets, you better!

No warranty support
Nice ratchet, however it broke. Tried contacting gearwrench for a replacement kit only to discover that any warranty outside the USA (I'm in Canada) is not possible. I've spoken to two local gearwrench vendors in Canada, but it's not a stocking item for them so they also declined. Well Gearwrench you have just lost my business (licensed red seal mechanic, 25 years in automotive)

This tool is also not super strong but that's a limitation imposed by this style ...
It's some what ok for the price but has some misses. First off it doesn't hold the socket or extension tight enough. And the ratchet is fairly stiff. This tool is also not super strong but that's a limitation imposed by this style of flex head I think. On the plus side the adjustable flex tension is awesome. The geometry of the ratchet works fantastic. And the comfort grip is very nice.

C’est bien pour les endroit serré
Bon outil polyvalent mais après 1 ans d’utilisation la petite bille que retiens la douille à tomber
