" ' Be better to parents. ' "
Dear reader:I, your beloved reviewer, take books to heart. I really do. Once a book comes to life in my mind, I want to return the favor. So, I write a review. I fear I'll fail. I often do. But I go ahead anyway. I try. I really do try. I try to put my life into my reviews.Speaking of life . . .My mom and dad are sine qua non to my life. My life is sine qua non to my mind. My mind is sine qua non to my thoughts. And my thoughts are sine qua non to my sentences. My sentences are all you can see. You cannot see my thoughts. Nor can you see things from my point of view. Nor can you pay a visit to my mind. I wish you could. I wish I could invite you in. But I cannot do the impossible. I can, however, tell you about “a little something” that is up there, upstairs, locked up good and tight in the attic and annex of my mind.Ah, here it is: my decades-old copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald's “The Great Gatsby.” Here. I hand it you. 'Tis yours to keep. Please do take it home with you. Won't you? No? What's wrong? Wait. Don't tell me. Let me guess. I've been dreaming again, haven't I? Ah well. Such is life. You can find “The Great Gatsby” in the Kindle edition of “F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Complete Works,” which is dirt-cheap ($1.99) and kinda sorta brand-spanking-new (February 1, 2018).As if that were not enough, the publisher's name is “Pandora's Box.” What a great name for a book publisher! What could be better? “Pandora's Books”?? Hmm ...Let's be honest with ourselves, dear reader. Tell me true. Don't you feel like Pandora opening her box whenever you crack open a good book and begin reading? I know I do. And I'm a guy. So, I can only imagine how you ladies must feel. The book under review here – namely, “F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Complete Works” – reminds me of Woody Allen's joke about the Sunday New York Times. Nobody reads the whole thing, but it's nice to know it's there. Along the same lines, I cannot in good conscience recommend reading Fitzgerald's "Complete Works” from cover to cover.Yes, of course, by all means, crack open the book and explore. Sooner or later, however, you may want to put on your blinders, block out everything else, and give your undivided attention to Fitzgerald's masterpiece, “The Great Gatsby.”Let me take that a step further. After locating and opening “The Great Gatsby,” you might want to search for, and find, in the closing chapter of that great book, the following passage:“Be better to parents.”That little nugget is something you don't just read. You take it to heart.BOTTOM LINE: Gatsby became “Great” in the world at large. All the while, however, a much smaller world was much more important. His mom and dad truly loved him, as their little boy, from birth to death.

It does TOO have the complete works
A couple reviewers on site are saying the Pandora's Box edition of Fitzgerald's Complete Words is not complete. In fact, there are some previously unpublished stories, say five or ten, that appear in the new collection "I'd Die for You," and do not appear here. Otherwise the Pandora's box edition not only has all Fitzgerald's novels and short stories, but also his short stories, if they appeared in collections, are in those same collections here. If they did not appear in collections, they are given separately, but in correct chronological order.Plus, the editions are generally recent and scholarly. In other words, the people who say the set is a rip-off are either wrong or discussing another set than the Pandora version. We all know Amazon's way of putting reviews of different editions of books under the same heading. Actually, the Pandora collection is an amazing bargain, well Kindle-printed (i.e. with few typos) and with excellent tables of contents.

Can’t get enough!
There is something about the work of F. ScottFitzgerald that welcomes frequent repeat visits. The novels and stories (including thelesser known ones he wrote to keep Zelda in the sanitorium) are always a treat. This is a good thing to keep on my Kindle—It means that I will never be without something good to read.

Least Expensive Copy of The Great Gatsby I could find.
This book includes The Great Gatsby which I had never read. Now I am also able to experience his other writings as well. The price was much less than just buying The Great Gatsby as a single publication. "Such a Deal" Enjoy.

Rediscover what makes Fitzgerald one of our best writers!
The price for the collection is negligible in comparison to the multitude of hours of enjoyment you’ll get from a writer who didn’t get the praise he should have gotten in his own time. I don’t want to start an argument but I think he’s a way better writer than Hemingway.

One Star
This is not at all what the title states. Far from a complete collection... Just a scam.
