This will be a young adult that is around two to three inches long, but they grow up to five to six inches long as adults and become a more intense cerulean blue color as they grow. These are very active crayfish that do not spend all of their time under rocks. They are well known for keeping tanks clean and free of waste. NOTE: We recommend a tank size minimum of 30 gallons for this crayfish when it is fully grown Though crayfish are NOT friendly to other aquarium inhabitants, they can often live with fast-moving fish and animals that are not bottom-dwellers. They are fairly slow and only a sick fish would be able to be caught by the crayfish. We keep them with guppies and fire red cherry shrimp, and have never seen a death, but we cannot recommend this or say with certainty that dwarf shrimp will be completely safe if kept with a large crayfish. Proper recommendations for these is 30 gallons, but 20 will suffice. Nothing smaller than 10-15 gallons should be used for any other type of smaller crayfish. Electrics can get 5-8 inches, 6in being the average. I was not expecting such a little guy, maybe the size of one of my shrimp! But that doesn't bother me a bit, he is really cute and has a big personality! He is a nice pale blue at the moment, I am sure he will brighten as he continues to grow. Molted within the first 24hours and happily went to work building a little cave for himself under the driftwood, but now after a few days has decided to reside in the castle (better choice if you ask me!) He arrived happy and healthy; upon putting him into the tank he was a bit upset. When one of my Dojo loaches approached to see what he was all about, he grabbed a hold of one of her whiskers with is tiny claw to show her he wasn't to be messed with.
