Rebuild Kit, Lower Body, The Pool Cleaner 4-Wheel

Old "The Pool Cleaner" unit lost directional ability and kept going in circles and stopped climbing the walls this year. Despite some very negative comments in the reviews, I purchased this item. I am pleasantly surprised with it. Easy to install and worked right out of the box without any problems. I have used this replacement for 4 months and still am pleased. Unit now climbs the walls as it did years ago and keeps the pool/walls 95% clean - the only things I need to brush are the stairs and sitting shelves. Parts I needed to take from the old unit were minimal: flaps, tires. Assembly took about 20 minutes. Original unit purchased in 2016 and this is the first time I needed to do maintenance other than changing tires. Would recommend.

If you already have a poolvergneugen/Hayward phoenix/etc & it's acting up to the point you're considering buying a new one, stop and get this instead. Unless you've somehow broken the top cover plastic where the hose connects, this product plus a new set of tires and 5-20 minutes work gives you a functionally as-new poolvergneugen for around a third the price of a whole new unit. This is everything but the top plastic cover, the plastic skirts on the bottom, and the tires. New tires and new skirts are both available for cheap if you need 'em, and this unit replaces everything that the skirts and tires attach to. I reused my skirts, no problems, but IMO remove the throat piece from both your old part and the new part before swapping skirts. The insructions don't mention that, just says "pull hard to remove middle skirt" but IME that's a lot easier when the throat piece is detached and detaching the throat piece is easy (press the tabs on either side of it and it'll slide out). I like the all-white-plastic wheels it includes (NOT tires, the rubber is NOT included), the original blue wheels bleach unevenly under our Arizona sun so this is an aesthetic improvement.This is a Hayward original part delivered in original packaging. Works perfectly.We own/maintain several of these units so as long as y'all offer this product at a good price, we'll be repeat customers. My replacement seems durable, and has been working great for 6 months. Hasn’t come out of the pool. If you get ANY Amazon replacement 4 pack of tires, cut the nubs off the back tires if it has them, or they won’t work. Comes basically with everything but tires and the covers you use off the old one. Easy and fast to replace. I believe 4 screws was all mine had. It’s very easy to do, but instructions make it look way complicated, I want to say? If you understand what I mean?

This worked out perfectly to convert my old 2 wheel Hayward pool cleaner to a new 4 wheel pool cleaner using the existing top cover and bottom panels. In less than 10 minutes I had everything completed. Everything from the old cleaner fit perfectly on to the new one.My pool technician was over to do their regular service and said that this was a great idea. He recommends to his clients to have the 4 wheel pool cleaners. He said the new cleaner will reduce his work.

I really like our 4 wheel Pool Cleaner, it has been running almost every day for 8 years but started just spinning circles and not going straight. Per Poolvergnuegen tech support there is no 'life expectancy' but 8 years you would think the plastic gears would wear down. Tech support advised it might be cheaper to buy a new unit, so went on Amazon to purchase when I saw this 'repair kit'. It works perfectly now for less than half the price of a new unit. You need to be very patient putting it together as the components need some friendly persuasion to assemble including the removal and installation of the 2 sets of fin skirts from old to new unit. Initially our unit didn't move or only spun right but after taking it apart again we noticed the black dowel that turns the front wheels, the gear teeth were not seated into the front teeth as were all the other. Once we set the dowel correctly the unit moved forward and works great. I've included a photo of correct position of the black dowels. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the instructions leave a lot to be desired. But we figured it out and I recommend getting this unit as you are basically getting a new unit for less.

If you don’t want to pay the insane price for a brand new one, this is perfect for you!! All you need is a screw driver and you can replace this part with your existing vacuum and bam! You have a working vacuum! I’m not even the kind of person who knows how to fix things, and I managed to pull it off.

I used this to rebuild a Hayward Aquanaut 400. It is a Hayward assembly. You must reuse your upper cover and handle, as well as the skirts. I also purchased new tires. Swapping the parts was simple, and took about 15 minutes with a Phillips head screwdriver. This assembly makes your pool vacuum like new again for less than half the cost of a new unit. I highly recommend using this and doing it yourself.

This is a great bargain! It’s less than half the price of a new pool vacuum, but it replaces all of the moving parts.
