    Fully Functional - Strong Springs

I live in a very old apartment with some double pane windows that were installed in the 1980's. A few of the windows had broken balances (on one side or the other). I ordered 2 of these 29" balances here through Amazon and while awaiting the shipment, I searched "replacing block and tackle window balances" on Youtube and watched helpful clips.I received the balances very timely, in good condition (may have been stored in a warehouse, but definitely "new and unused"), I installed the two new balances on the window we use most often. Since both living room windows had one functional balance, I re-installed the old balances on the other window. Results are great, all of our living room windows work fine now. The window with the new balances, since those springs have considerably more tension, can actually be lifted open with one finger now. I like that, and think the new springs will loosen up a little over time.I was so happy with this purchase, that I just ordered another pair of these balances for one more window needing the same repair in our bedroom. I think the price is reasonable. I strongly suggest replacing both window balances per window, even if just one side is broken,for smooth even operation and long lasting repair.
