## Description

Review: Freezer bags - Excellent product
Review: Good for Sous Vide and storing 3D printer filament - I have a FoodSaver, and I originally came across this bag size when attempting to Sous Vide large prime rib roasts that just won't fit in the typical bags. Target used to carry these, but alas no more. These bags hold more due to pleats at the sides that unravel to make a larger bag. Just be sure to leave a larger (i.e 5+ inches) header/slack at the open end so that sides can reoppose flat for sealing. You're supposed to seal the ends on "wet mode" due to the need to seal 4 layers of plastic that fold up at the sides. However, if you're like me and don't have this mode, then just actuate the sealer mode twice (latch, seal, unlatch, wait for FoodSaver power light indicator to turn off, relatch, seal, unlatch, viola!) I know there are other "big" bag rolls made by other companies. I find that alternatives just don't work well. They don't seal well (i.e. air doesn't evacuate quickly or entirely, edges don't oppose well for sealing, and seals break open). I'm just not going to waste any more money on those alternatives. I'm sticking with FoodSaver brand bags. Now, I don't make a lot of roasts (it's a Holiday thing, and Holidays went on strike in 2020). However, I have found that these are a nice size for storing 3D printer filament wound on those giant rolls (i.e. filament rolls won't fit in the standard-sized bags). I just make a bag from the roll, drop in a desiccant pack with the filament, vacuum seal, and store. (Remember to actuate twice when sealing ends.) Viola!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you use these. . . .do you just suction them like the other bags? What is with the folding?**
A: You would Vacuum and seal these just like the other FoodSaver bags. We do recommend folding in the side pelts and pull tightly for a proper seal.

**Q: These bags look neat, just how wide do they open and how does a roll bsg work with this?**
A: The bag measures 10 3/16" across when flattened. Each fold (side pleats) measure 5 1/4", so you have more than 20" of it completely opened. The problem I had with the bag was getting it to seal. Say you have a 10# turkey in a roasting pan, you put it in the bag. The instructions tell you to "neatly tuck or fold-in the side pleats to remove all wrinkles before inserting." Obviously inserting into the vacuum sealer. It also advises to add 5" to the length. Well as far as I'm concerned, you need to add 8 to 10" if you are going to get the bag to completely flatten at the opening so you can seal it without any wrinkles. You have used up almost the whole roll for one use. Gets expensive!Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by bsg.T

**Q: We have a 33Ibs turkey, and we have others about the same size. Do you think these bags would fit?**
A: These will open to 20 inches . So size is more important than weight. Be aware that you need to leave enough of the bag to lay flat to seal. This could be 8-10 inches. This seems kind of expensive to me.

**Q: How thick is the plastic in mils? It should be at least 4 mil thick.**
A: It is the same as other Food Saver brand bags.
