There is some orange peel finish on the wood, so it's not quite a piano finish, but it's not bad, especially for the price. It looks great with the TV on it. However, if you're putting anything larger than a 45" screen on it, make sure you have a center stand. A 50" screen is wider than the stand.As far as assembly, I highly recommend you have a drill, a flexible drive shaft, and a hex bit available, because I can imagine what was a quick (took me about 15 minutes) and easy assembly would have been a pain without it. There's a lot of screwing involved that I would not have liked to accomplish with just the hex tool provided.What's keeping me from giving this five stars is the aforementioned orange peel finish, and the just miserable delivery experience. Based on delivery alone, this would be a no star review. This isn't necessarily Amazon's fault because it was the USPS that couldn't get out of their own way, but Amazon did decide to go with USPS. Initially, they didn't deliver it because "Mailbox was full" which is interesting because not only was my mailbox not full, this is a large 50 lb. box, and barring some kind of Mary Poppins style magical feature my mailbox possesses, this is completely irrelevant. This started a four day saga of phone calls with Amazon and the USPS to try and get the box redelivered, which I finally got four days late just in time to put it together for a gift.
