I have not used liquid oxgall before but after this, I see little reason to try. I just do a few swipes with a slightly damp brush and mix it in with whatever color I am using and I am pretty much guaranteed to have a perfectly smooth wash of paint. It works well with granulating pigments, I have found, the pigments in Daniel Smith's moonglow has a tendency to separate as it dries if it's too wet. With the oxgall the pigments stayed combined and dried evenly.I feel I should also point out that the pans from Schmincke is slightly shorter than the 'standard' half pans I have. However, they do not taper at the bottom.
