8311-90 Freestanding Accordion Clothes Drying Rack, 29" x 14.5" x 42", White

This is an great product made of high quality polished chrome. It's easy to fold out and stand up and easy to close. It closes to 3" in depth which saves lots of space and it's lightweight. I've never used fold up dryers before but decided to shop for one to save money at the laundromat. Many people complain that wooden ones just don't last b/c they rot, discolor clothing, deform in shape, and leave splinters. So that's why a dryer made of metal was more appealing to me. Besides, the wooden ones I found at stores were flimsy in quality. Keep in mind though that this dryer will not dry a large load of laundry, maybe a medium load at most, you might need to purchase a second one or dry a few items on a chair like I do (I do huge loads at once). The dryer I received had a small dent on one of the legs but it's so small and insignificant that I will still give it 5 stars bc the overall product is such good quality. And they seem to have corrected the packaging problem the early reviewer had b/c now they give it a HUGE box with lots of padding. The only thing is i see that amazon has raised the price.

I like this drying rack. I felt it seemed a little pricey for a drying rack but eventually I bought it and the quality and design seems decent. I use it every time I do my wash. I dry my clothes a little bit in the gas dryer and then put the wettest stuff like towels, socks or anything that takes a longer time to dry on the rack. I'm sure it saves some on my gas bill and makes it easier to prevent over drying, shrinking or unnecessary wear on clothes. The rack is not very big so it won't be possible to dry a whole load of wash on it.. that's for sure, but it is still very useful to me. I like it.

Contrary to the picture, this rack does NOT have a bottom bar. This is is quite an important piece to an accordion drying rack as without it the legs fold in and it collapses. It's also quite flimsy and sags if more than underwear or a t-shirt are hung on it. Save yourself time and money and buy a different rack.

We first purchased this Polder rack back in 2005, it's been our favorite rack ever since (we've had a few others) and is still going strong. We recently needed more drying capacity and ordered another one (1/2013). Within 3.5 weeks of moderate use we noticed that the legs on one side have "collapsed" inward, rendering the rack unusable. Apparently, our rack was missing the lowest rod that supports the legs. We sent it back to Amazon and ordered a new one (3/2013) only to realize that this one is missing the lowest rod as well! Several other facts: * As of this writing, the Amazon description mentions "11 rods" (while there are only 10 of them) and the picture clearly shows the lowest rod. Not true. * The manufacturer retouched the photo on the sheet that comes packaged with the rack so the lowest rod has been erased (though in a rather amateur way). These are clear indications that the rack design has changed recently, probably to save the manufacturer a few cents. Our recently purchased one is going back to Amazon as well. We have order a different model Whitmor 6060-741 Folding Clothes Drying Rack, Chrome which will hopefully do a better job.

This being the first drying rack in my long life I can't compare to others, but since our washer/dryer relocation project has cut off dryer access for a while, this has been our dryer, and it's absolutely fine for two people and frequent, small wash loads. I like the sturdy construction, large round tubes, light weight, well designed hanger layout, and compact fold-up. It'll also give us a warm weather outdoor rack, and sun-dried laundry is nice ... with low operating costs, too!

WARNING: Be prepared to receive damaged goods. The drying rack deserves 5 stars, the method of shippment deserves -1. It really is a nice product, for something so simple it appears well thought out. Nice design touches, like the many plastic caps which cover any holes. The retail package is clear shrink wrap, which is fine if I was going to pick this up in a store. I was shocked to discover that the shipping method was basically a large plastic bag. Not good protection from all of the boxes and general handling practice of UPS. Needless to say it arrived bent. Amazon, I thought you knew better.

Super! So practicle! We loved it!
