The more expensive one has wires to hold the fire up while this one has a pan with diamond shaped holes. This stove also fits inside itself making it more compact. Both come with storage bags to contain the soot.Performance. They both work great. Lots of heat from sticks that are easy to find. Both of them are difficult to light without fire starter because the fire chamber is so low inside. (I lay the expensive stove on it's side to light and this one can be partially assembled to light then assembled)Negatives of the this stove over the expensive stove. The holes in the fire pan allow ash to collect and block the air flow. However, a long stick to stir the fire and the build up was gone. This stove drops ashes to the ground so you have to have this on a fire safe surface. The expensive stove keeps the ashes inside until you pour them out. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Liked it, would buy again *by J***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2015* Worked well, but kinda small. Using random dry twigs it was slow to boil a liter of water at 10F with a wind. With a lid, boil time was about 20 minutes. It did burn clean when loaded with extra dry wood or when run hot, after it cooled there was minimal deposit on the stove. The pot did have soot deposits. The grate at the bottom that held the coals would occasionally get clogged, just stir and poke with a stick. I am new to this type of camping stove. It would probably be best suited for solo use in the summer. this review was based on two separate uses, the second time it was used for about an hour. I would buy it again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works great and the stove and its storage bag fits perfectly ... *by S***K on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2015* Works great and the stove and its storage bag fits perfectly in a Solo Stove Pot 1800. The stainless steel isn't the greatest as I think the bottom grate of the burn chamber has rust spots and the pot stand is meh. Ok for large pot and pans, the Solo pot mentioned sits half way up the legs in the teeth zone but is stable when it if filled with water. Tends to want to tip because of the rounded corners of the bottom. Smaller pots and cups will not fit. Which has been a known problem with the earlier versions of more expensive stoves, Wild stove and Silver fire scout. These have been redesigned to allow use of small pots. It you have a Evernew Titanium Alcohol Stove cross pot stand, you can mod the fire ring/pot stand to accept the evernew and cook with small pots. This will put the pot a little lower than the built in pot stand but it doesn't seem to effect the function of the stove.Word of advise though, this stove does NOT like wind. Wind is bad for this stove.
