This Book Changed My Work Life Forever
At 25, I was moving fast at a large corporate company and increasingly feeling burnt out, dissatisfied and obsessed with work. A good bit of how I thought of myself as a person was wrapped up in how well my job was going. This book helped me start untangling all of that and gave me the framework of how I wished my office would be. Slowly, I started shifting how I thought about work and bringing all my highs and lows with me in the door every day. I started to understand that every email didn't have to be the rush of stress that it was and to see the full picture of the emotions of the people around me. When I eventually moved into management, this book became the guiding light for me on how to do it right and how to still be a human at work. The advice of Liz and Mollie has been monumental to me and my team and helps keep us all sane, living full lives in and outside the office. Now, we're having a group reading of this in the office and I love sending their newsletters and podcast appearances out to the team. We seriously call them "our friends Liz and Mollie" because that's how much it's made and impact on our team. Also, the doodles are SO relatable - thanks for taking all my work feelings and helping them make sense in such a practical and funny way.

Clear and concise, with cute drawings
This book is clearly organized and offers a lot of useful practical advice for quick behaviors you can start to improve workplace culture and relationships. It is also short and very easy to read, which is always a plus.I appreciated the personal anecdotes from the authors; it really feels like you're getting to know them as you read through the book and learn more about their life experiences and problems. This book has drawings throughout to illustrate the concepts, which is helpful for someone like me who is a visual learner. The drawings are funny and have made the concepts in this book are much more memorable for me than those in other professional books. The only downside to this book, in my opinion, is that it draws heavily from other sources. This is great if you don't typically read professional books and you want a book that is short and draws a lot of different ideas about emotion together, but if you're someone like me who has already read a few books on interpersonal work relationships, particularly Radical Candor by Kim Scott, then you may find this a little bit redundant at times. That said, the authors do a good job of framing concepts from other books within their broader context of emotions at work, so I still thought it was worth the read.

Witty, relatable, quick read - want to gift it to everyone
As a female who struggles to manage my emotions at work sometimes, this book made me feel better. It highlights that it’s okay to feel feelings - but gives so much advice and many resources to support and improve emotions in many scenarios, such as working in teams, leadership and decision making. I wish I could give this to every person in my company. It’s that valuable. And, it’s coupled with witty cartoons and great advice. I also liked that Liz and Mollie provide additional resources on race, gender and more, and quote many professionals throughout the book. This book is definitely not for people who are looking to do a deep dive on one specific instance of emotions. It’s a great overview and draws on many sources. The negative reviews on here note this - but just know what to expect.

A fun, insightful, and relatable read for managing emotions at work
Liz Fosslien and Mollie West Duffy courageously acknowledge how our human emotions don’t just fade away once we pull into our workplace parking lots, and then take it a step further to address, “What happens then?!”“No Hard Feelings,” is an insightful, witty, and relatable read, providing useful tools and tactics that anyone could implement for managing emotions at work.Additionally, the illustrations are incredibly accurate depictions of some of the most common, real-world, sticky situations and keep you smiling through each chapter. A must read for anyone in the workplace and a great gift for teams looking to connect in more meaningful and effective ways.

Maybe if you're new to corporate life.
Nothing too thought provoking for anyone who's worked in a corporate environment for a few years. May be beneficial for someone new to corporate life. Quite a bit of visuals, some with substance and others seemed to fill pages in place of true content. The authors felt it was necessary to include their political views on gender which was a little off-putting.

blunt, not pointed
I purchased the kindle version of this, and ended up purchasing a hard copy as well so that I could loan it to friends - but I ended up giving it to my husband instead after hearing about his many frustrations at work.Liz and Mollie succinctly (both in words and illustrations) depict many of the common hurdles of the modern workplace, while also providing actionable interventions and/or coping mechanisms. It's short and direct, and to the point without being pointed. Another reviewer argued that it feels like a collection of post-its - and this is certainly not a comprehensive tactical guide to workplace strategy. But it's a solid collection of tips and advice for managing being human in environments that don't often welcome humanity. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to navigate the shark-infested waters of the workplace, whether as a subordinate or as a manager. If nothing else, post a few of the illustrations around the coffeemaker to encourage discussions and remind everyone that we all have feelings (and that's okay!)
