Got this in small, which was still too big for me, so had to use size-reducing strips for it to fit. Works great, took some time to get the wired brim adjusted to my liking, but got it done. The chin strap is very nice and soft (like brain-tanned leather), though I usually use it at the back (like some "mounty" hats have). The black color is solid, no real weathered look.I also bought a brown in medium (not realizing my head is too "small" for hat-designers), and it needs roll-strip and extra pieces to reduce the size to fit. But it does have a real, weathered, rugged outdoorsy look.I like the wire-adjustable brim, and the feel of the hats.I have not yet worn these in rain, so I don't know how the oil-skin responds to it.

Bought this for a costume, but I love it so much that I'm going to wear it all the time now. I love that it's easy to mold in any way you want. I was worried about it getting smashed in my luggage, and it did, but I was able to shape it back into place.At first I felt like it was really expensive for something that wasn't even real leather, but I'm good with that now. I initally started to buy a real leather hat, but I worried about wearing it to the lake and getting it wet. This is perfect for lake trips, while still giving the leather-look. The material is comfortable too.Some people have commented on the size being off for them. I measured my head at 22.5 inches, so I bought the medium (sized 22 3/8). It fits perfectly. Not too tight or too lose.

I really like the weathered look of this hat but if you're looking for a 'cowboy' hat I'd say go with something else. I originally bought it for that purpose but it's turned into more of a camping/fishing hat for me. It has a hard time staying in the correct mold/look of a cowboy hat since the outer edge is just a bendy wire without a lot of support within the brim of the hat itself. But if you want a camping/fishing hat, this has worked nice!

I already have one of these hats and have received many compliments. This hat is great for any outdoor event. It is very comfortable, endures high winds and bad weather and has the wire in the outer brim to adjust as you would like. I love the brown two-tone colors. I wore this to our dentist office and he said he loved the blended brown color, the chin strap and overall look of my hat. We know he is a fisherman like us so I took out my tape measure and asked to measure his head. He mentioned he has a very large head and did not know if we could find a hat to fit him. So, I stepped out in faith and researched the largest size for this hat and found (I believe) 8 1/4. So, we again researched and sought out a hat stretcher and found one that would stretch a hat up to 1/4 inch. My dentist' head is 8 1/2 so after a good stretch we managed to meet our goal. We presented the hat to him and he was simply amazed and so very thankful - the hat literally fit perfect. Thank you Silver Canyon.
