I decided to try it even not knowing if the ANT+/Bluetooth technology was compatible with the old Nike Triax C8. When I tested it, the HRM-Dual sensor was not compatible with the old C8. Both Bluetooth and ANT+ are supported. But after 6 months neither of them work. Despite following the rinsing and washing instructions to-the-letter, the unit began giving inaccurate readings after 5 months and then stopped working altogether. My understanding from numerous reviews and innumerable complaints is that an accumulation of salts from perspiration in the strap is the cause of errant readings, thus the rinsing and washing requirement. I guess Garmin failed to take into account that athletes perspire. The straps are faulty and they render the device useless after a short period of use. **Q: I cant get this to connect to my android phone using strava or garmin connect i dont know why?** A: As of now february 2022 I am able to pair my heart rate monitor up to my android every time like it was new in Bluetooth settings. I’m 95% certain they’re not sufficiently wetting the electrodes, as I had similar problems when I first bought it. Here’s the best way to put this strap on to ensure it actually turns on: run the pads under water so you wet both the pad and the strap material next to the pads. Pull the strap around the top of your abs, connect the clasp, then slide it horizontally into the correct position. Sliding it ensures water from the soaked strap sufficiently hydrates your skin where the plastic electrodes end up sitting. The HRM won’t turn on if there isn’t sufficient moisture between the pad and your skin (which is common in the morning). Have been using this strap nearly every day for a year without issue. Pairs with everything from my Garmin Fenix 5S (you can pair it right from the watch... don't need to use an app) to my Edge 1030 plus, commercial equipment, and even my Apple TV (for Zwift).
