Each book of the Bible is discussed in great detail from Time, Place, Author, Theme, and major sections explored. Miller has won many awards for his books and praise even from his critics because of his approach. The section on Genesis and Revelation is worth the price of the book alone! (Creation Account, Who are the "Sons of God?", What is 666, Is Revelation about the future?). His sidebars are very interesting -- especially his one after Romans Chapter 1 discussing the "Clobber" section used against GLBT people. Again he just gives the facts and the Roman culture and lets the reader decide. He does a marvelous job through the New Testament and the epistles -- you will get a new understanding of why Paul said what he did to the churches and what was going on at that time. Miller gives you the "facts" and views of scholars and leaves it at that, which I find refreshing and a new approach to religious reference material. This would make a wonderful Sunday school curriculum (Hint Hint) and would generate some wonderful discussions. His newest book "Jesus" was just released and retails for $14.97. I hope you all have the same excitement I did when you read this wonderful book! By the way, Fundementalists beware -- this book might open your eyes to real Bible truth on so many dogmas that are erroneously held (Like a Literal Six Day Creation and a 10,000 Year Old Earth) -- which Miller clearly reveals as ridiculous with humor and good common sense.

8/4/25 Truly an Awesome Bible/ Book! It fully breaks down the and makes it easy to read the Bible and fully understandable. I have many bibles and have read all, but this one is colorful, and TRULY enjoyable!! Would be a Great gift for teens and adults also. All ages can benefit from it. I saw this first in my local grocery store, so had the chance to look over book and immediately right there looked it up on Amazon and they had it cheaper. So ordered, received it overnight. Feeling very Blessed to have found this Bible. Honestly, I’m one who has bought SO many bibles thinking this will be the one I can read and enjoy while learning and growing… but none met my expectations…. Until now!!! It’s going to help me dive deeper into my Bible studies and research. It’s kind of like Bibles for dummies, but it’s not. Great for any Bible reader old or new. Don’t hesitate to buy, you promise you won’t be disappointed. I have so many bibles and Many bibles I have are difficult to break down, making me get frustrated and wanting to put down. What good is a Bible if it’s not read? I’ve been sadly very frustrated by many. Enter this Bible…….WOW!! SO IMPRESSED! Can you tell?? This one will not only be wonderful alone but to also use with my other bibles. Just buy it! I also think it would be an amazing gift for teens or adults alike. Those who are Christians already and those who might need to bring Bible studies into their lives. I read many people here purchased for others as gifts, I think that’s such a blessings to share the word. I hope this touches others lives as much as I know it will mine and those I share with. I love this book! It brings the writings to life and tells the stories in a history fashion. Highly recommended for new explorers of Christ.

I read portions from both Old and New Testaments daily; not that I'm any Bible "Scholar," nor any kind of theologian; but as many others, it gives me a spiritual uplift doing so. I found my first coyp of Stephen Miller's "Complete Guide to the Bible," in a Publix book stand. It aroused my interest enough to buy it. I love it. The author is (at least to this layman) very knowledgeable, but his style is so light and concise, he covers whole Books of the Bible in a few pages. But it's not dry nor repetitive of the Bible itself (as Cliff's Notes were reputed to be of novels - never actually used them myself). He adds additional information on origins, archeological finds, historical context, information about the author (or presumed authors), excellent and beautiful artwork and graphics, and on top of all that, he's is *funny.* Never disrepectful, he's extremely clever with anachronistic puns and down-to-earth humor - you'll get a laugh out of each reading (again nothing facetious or sarcastic - this man is knowledgable and sincerely loves the subject about which he's writing." I'd say the main advantage is for those who never read the Bible (possibly too much of a time-consuming challenge) and those such as myself (who can always learn more about this amazing Book) this is comprehensively concise - an oxymoron that not only describes its contents, but also its virtue (as I see it). I ordered a second copy from Amazon (from which I buy most my books), sent to my daughter's boyfriend who'd once mentioned he's always wanted to read through the Bible, but hadn't found the time. Highly recommend it.

I ordered this book after I saw a very positive recommendation for it on Tik-Tok and I’m so glad I did. It gives an informative synopsis of each book of the Bible in a clear language any novice can understand. It is a great reference tool for Bible study and I am really enjoying reading this book!

The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is the fact that it is not the Bible as most of us know it. On the other hand, if one accepts the statement that this is a "Guide," then it deserves a 5 star rating. This guide encompasses both the Old and New Testaments and most of the book is obviously devoted to the Old Testament. I have been a Christian since childhood and went to Sunday School and continue to attend church on a regular basis. I bought this book, because I wanted to know more about the historical "facts" that now comprise the Bible. (Note the quote marks.) This book is filled with interesting facts of the times - long ago times, of course. The pictures are in color and are quite impressive. I am not a scholar of religion and one who is would find the book to be beneath them. Actually, I find it a fun read and this is my first experience with a guide that appeals to me. I have looked at others in Christian book stores, but this one is uniquely different from those I have seen. I am truly pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it. Anyone with curiosity concerning discussions that may or may not be in a church sermon, will find the book to be meaningful and rewarding. I am not a pious person, if that provides addition insight into my comments. I purchased the Kindle 8.9 version.

I was after a reference to the bible, the title "complete guide to the bible" lead me to believe that the book was an academic reference I only read a few pages and i do not think that i can continue for much longer. Every sentence is preaching and assumes that God is real. This is not and exercise in thinking and studying an ancient book but blind faith.
