The Mister: A Forbidden Billionaire Romance of Power, Passion, and Escape (Mister & Missus, 1) Review: Cinderella Story ? - Loved The Mister! Ok let me start by saying like everyone else devoted to “ FSOG “ I too would have rather had Christians POV Freed before reading “ The Mister” ! that being said! We do not call the shots of what the writers put out there for us to read! I for one would have gone crazy if i had nothing else to read while waiting for a particular book to be published ! Enter “The Mister” ! I so loved this story! Maxim; ok here is my one comparison to Christian! Maxim like CG thinks he can get buy with either one night stands/Mindless sex (Maxim) or like CG with a contract! They both think they can avoid relationships/love! But that's not how Cupid works! But when these type fall ! they fall hard! Maxim has enough on his plate dealing with the sudden death of his brother, the Earl of Trevethick, which leaves him the new Earl ! while still mourning the loss of his father a few years past! Everyone is pulling him from all directions ! And then there is our Cinderella ! E L James on a recent interview said that FSOG was a Beauty and the Beast story and that The Mister is a Cinderella story! I like that comparison ! Alessia ( my Ana comparison ) like Ana and is a sweet innocent young very smart women! That when dealing with their own problems/crisis are not just a pretty face ! the things that Alessia has had to deal with and at the same time what she has accomplish is amazing ! Though there is a HEA, I still felt there was somethings left “hanging” and though not confirmed that this is a series too, “ thinking “ there is more left to this story to come!????? Hoping so !Thanks E L ! for this enjoyable read! Review: Enjoyed it! - 4 Stars! Before I begin my actual review, I have two major issues with the way readers are reviewing this book: 1) I don’t agree with those claiming that EL James is a terrible writer. I would love to know what literary genius these people are reading in the ROMANCE genre on the regular. Seriously. I have read some romance authors who do write better than James, but I have read and DNF’d a TON of garbage romance writers. What I personally enjoy about James’ writing, is that it’s fast paced and very heavily focused on the hero/heroine relationship building. There isn’t a lot of other “fluff.” One of my biggest pet peeves is when I’m like 60% of the way through a book and the hero/heroine have yet to really build any time of legit relationship. Talk about a snooze fest..... I think the major issue here is jealousy, but what do I know. 2) Half the readers are complaining it’s too much like Fifty, and half are complaining it’s too different....I don’t honestly know what to say about these people. Let’s review the actual book called The Mister, m’kay? The Mister contains one of my all time favorite tropes: rags to riches for the heroine and a major gap in social class between the hero and heroine. Call me sexist but I love it. It’s such a fantasy. Who wouldn’t want to be swept away by some gorgeous royal? I know I wouldn’t mind one bit. Alessia, our heroine, is a cleaner who finds herself cleaning the house of Maxim Traveleyan. Maxim is wealthy, he’s royalty, he’s a little broken when they first meet and he’s perfect for Alessia. Their connection is fast, it’s convincing, it’s consuming, and it’s sexy. Alessia’s background is dark and so we have a bit of a damsel in distress storyline as well. YES PLEASE! One thing I loooooved about the story is that James infuses some references to classical music since Alessia plays the piano quite well. It was a refreshing subplot. I really enjoyed pulling up the classical pieces on my iPhone, listening to them, imagining them as background music for the scene and trying to figure out why that particular piece was chosen. It made the storyline much richer! The last 20% of the book is quite suspenseful and I found myself racing through the pages. I wish I had slowed down a bit to really enjoy it. I was too eager to finish. That being said, I think the one thing keeping me from rating the book higher, is that James played it too safe with the darker elements of this book. I think she could have really pushed the elements further than she did. I almost wanted more violence, more running, more evil. It would have made the resolution all the more satisfying in my opinion. But I’m a little twisted so....there’s that. Otherwise, I’m deeply satisfied with The Mister and hope for more from James soon!

Love is priceless, nothing else matters! ❤
The Mister By E L James I went into this blind I didn't want to know anything about the book or what people were saying. I preordered the ebook then I saw an opportunity to get a signed copy from England since I couldn't get one here in the USA. When I finished the book I was surprised to see so many low reviews then I realized that a lot were from people who didn't even read the book! Why leave a review without giving the book a read first, that totally confuses me. With that being said lets get down to business. Maxim Trevelyan is in a tailspin since his older brother Kit, the heir of Travethick was killed in a motorcycle accident. He's the one everyone referred to as the spare, the blacksheep of the family he must takeover as the Earl of Travethick. He is grieving by turning to booze and women. Then appears an angel disguised as a daily (a daytime cleaner, maid). I loved the way he evolved, grew and even finally grieved as he fell in love with life and his daily. Alessia Demachi has had a hard life and finds herself promised to a man that is jealous and abusive. With help of her mother she fled her beloved homeland of Albania for London only to find that she was caught up with criminals instead of men who were supposed to save her. Scared, on the run for her life she finds her mother's friend Mayda who saves her, gives her a place to stay a helps her find a job as Mister Maxim daily. There she discovers she feels safe, and is drawn to Master Maxim and finds herself wanting to get to know him,to tell him about her past her dreams and her love of music. Their journey isn't easy it full of twists and turns, suspense, drama, friendship, passion and ultimately love. I would've loved to had a few more questions answered. Maybe an epilogue would of tied up some of the questions but maybe we are left there because there will be another book or two coming since their are lots of intriguing characters and questions left. ( Hint Hint) Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🎹🎶

What a waste of time and money. Weak characters, no real development in their relationship, a wimp of a hero, an unsecure, timid heroine...A very short timeline, no real events, and the list could go on... Do not get me started on the writing style, the pov... I really have no idea how this garbage could be published.

‘She feels safe with him. She hasn’t felt safe for so long,’ When The Mister by EL James landed on our Kindles at midnight, we dived right in. We’ll be completely honest with you, we had a myriad of emotions going through our minds as we embarked on this Authors new journey, a mix of nervous anticipation and ecstatic excitement if you will. After all, this is not Fifty Shades, one of our most beloved book series, this is something brand spanking new, minus the spanking. And after finishing The Mister this rings completely true in a positive way as it showcased that EL James is not just synonymous with Fifty Shades, she is more than that, she can write any type of romance, though her formula of the classic fairy-tales is once again present. Where Fifty Shades was wonderfully dark, captivatingly erotic and its own brand of Beauty and the Beast; The Mister is more of a slow burn and an almost tender and vulnerable romance with a Cinderella feel to it. “You know, you can hold me too.” Our brand of reading is that we stay away from anything about a book we know we’ll eventually read. We don’t read excerpts nor do we read reviews or spoilers. So, other than the synopsis we go in completely blind. That’s the way we roll and the way we like it. So to be honest with you we actually had no idea what to expect. The prologue had us hooked, it was sombre and haunting and started the story off with a kick to the emotional gut. We loved that. We could immediately tell that EL James has honed her craft as her writing was flawless and whilst we absolutely recognised the Author and her words it felt new and exciting. What better way to showcase your writing than to do a one-eighty. One of the aspects we loved about The Mister is the underlying message of humanity, societal and economic issues as well as the depravity and inequality evident in our world today. Whilst at times The Mister had an almost historical feel it was written in today’s world with the relevance that goes hand in hand. ‘Eyes closed, he’s feeling the music, every note expressed on his face. As she watches him – his brow furrowed, head tilted, lips parted – he takes her breath away. She’s captivated. By him. By the music. He’s talented. The piece is sad, full of longing and grief….’ The romance was quite simply, swoon-worthy. It’s the stuff dreams are made of and what we hopeless romantics crave. We fell in love with Maxim and Alessia and their wonderful romance, which grew out of both tragic and haunting circumstances. Innocence versus experience. Have versus have not. Status of nobility versus the status of an immigrant. Their paths cross when each one of them needs the other the most. It was beautiful to watch through the vivid writing and the tone set so aptly by the atmospherically placed musical undertone. “I like sleeping with you” “Well, that makes two of us.” The way in which The Mister is written allows the reader to fully connect with both characters and really get under their skin. The connection ran deep for us and we championed both Maxim and Alessia all the way. Each shaped by their own past and their current place in the world. “I’ve got you,” I whisper…. Maxim had a boyish, cheeky quality and a wicked sense of humour. A bit of a bad boy who is in some way lost and desperate for a loving touch. He almost craves it. We fell in complete love with him. Alessia is just adorable, so incredibly sweet with an endearing innocence and timidness. Yet when the occasion calls for it Alessia gets feisty. They were just so perfectly suited and their romance shone like a bright beacon at sea. ‘I know I should look away, but I’m distracted by her underwear. They cover her backside and come up to her waist. They are possibly the largest knickers I’ve seen on a woman.’ As you all know, we don’t do spoilers so we won’t give you any more story. Just know that this is such a wonderfully written romance that will pull at your heart strings and you’ll get carried away by the words. A romantic escape touched by an ugly reality with an emphasis on the human touch. We wanted more at the end and whilst this is a standalone we’d love more! “Thank you.” “What for?” “Saving me…”
