Accurate and easy to use. Worth the money.
Works great. Accurate to about a third of a degree. Good enough for me. Helped me build a wooden box with six sides and no two angles the same. Good action on the tighten screw. Worth the money.

Accurate, nice design and affordable.
The accuracy seems excellent, the markings have maybe 0.1~0.2 degrees inaccuracy at most. The edge is perfectly flush at 180 and 0 degrees. One really nice and innovative feature I noticed is that the indicator arm with the measurement mark is ever so slightly bowed in the vertical plane, like a 0.05~0.1 millimetre and only makes contact with the protractor BEHIND the measuring arrow. This means that throughout use, as long as you don't overtighten the locknut while measuring, it will significantly reduce any wear on the indications and measurement marks since it's not making contact with them. The locknut holds the entire thing together so don't overloosen it, a small 1/4 or 1/3 turn is enough and provides that gap underneath. Very happy. No idea where it was made as the packaging doesn't actually mention on mine, but even if it's made in China it's pretty solid quality. Would have liked to have it made in Japan but oh well. The description is incredibly misleading though, the only Japanese thing about this is the brand behind it. Given that that's the only indication anywhere on this page for where it's made I find that misleading as anyone browsing (like me) would assume it's made there.

Not perfectly accurate but pretty good quality otherwise
[I revised my rating to 5 stars. I don't know why I was quibbling over a tiny error that's smaller than the width of the lines and on a par with normal random errors (like from tightening the locking screw). I'm leave the original review below, but now I think this is a 5-star product, especially for the price.] The build quality is good. The markings are nicely engraved. The hole in the arm is not perfectly centered (about .1mm off), leading the reading to be a little off. But I don't expect better than that. it's not that this protractor is made in China (guess where your phone came from). The reason is we paid $13.58 for it. The Starret C19 goes for $114.

Highly deserving of the Shinwa reputation
This is an excellent tool made by Shinwa. I'd asked some machinists and woodworkers and they recommended the Shinwa brand. So although paying a few dollars more for what looks to be such a basic tool, the quality of this stands out when compared to previous protractors which had would not hold their settings, or had markings that were hard to read.

As described, except where manufactured.
While a Japanese company, this tool was made in China. That said, it is a high quality item with a finely marked scale and well made pieces. Made of hard chrome stainless steel. Can recomend as a good value and I would buy it again.

Accurate and simple to use
This is a must have tool if you are sharpening bowl gouges for lathe work. Very simple to use and ensures that you are setting up your sharpening jigs ( eg. Wolverine/Vari-grind ) accurately and achieve the desired angle on your gouges.

An excellently made gauge, especially for the price!
Appears to be very well made, especially for the price! 90 degrees is dead-on with a small machinist angle I compared it against, and 0/180 degrees was dead-on against a flat surface. Clamp works great. Numbers & lines are very readable. Just no complaints, should work great for me!

The protracor I received is off by a half a degree
This is a well made protractor that is built to survive in the toolbox. The main purpose of a protractor is to measure an angle. In my opinion, this protractor is incorrect by about 1/2 degree, and You Tube has a video showing how to correct this. Something else can also make it better. Put a 6" ruler scale, a useful convenience, on the arm of the protractor instead of leaving it blank, a waste of the space. Furthermore, extend a line across the angular scale from 0 degrees to 180 degrees, which will make it easier to line up this axis.
