Affordable and Reliable
I was wanting to get into some video making with my camera, and all I had for stabilizing was a pretty basic counterweight stabilizer. It did work somewhat, but I wanted something easier to use and something that could hold accessories. That's when I invested in the Neewer Video Cage. It went together in no time. The only assembly required is screwing the top handle and the camera mount onto the frame. The build is sturdy, yet is lightweight, where as my counter balance stabalizer was heavier and wore my arm out a lot. Didn't help the counterweight one was one handled either. The part that the camera attaches too also feels strong, it never feels like my camera might slip off the rig. It also looks really good too. People see it and tell me it looks really professional. The top also has a lot of holes in it, so you can add all kinds of lights, mics, flashes, etc to it. Just note it only has the holes, so you will need to get adapters for anything that doesn't have the 1/4 screw on it. The only 1/4 screw on the set is the one for the camera itself, which has an easy to turn base so you can attach any camera easily. My camera is the basic size for most DSLRs, and the rig gives me plenty of room to play with the camera itself. I can reach my hand around the side of it, turn it on, change shutter speed and aperture, view pics, etc. It also does a decent to amazing job at stabilizing video, depending on how you use it. This isn't some top dollar rig that is going to give you amazingly stable footage, especially if you are running around trying to do an action sequence. This is much more designed around slow movement. If you are standing still, or sitting down, the stability is outstanding. You can pan it around, lift it up and down, side to side, all with very little, if any, shakiness. When it comes to walking and filming, you will notice movement in the camera. It will be noticeably different from just holding a camera in your hand and shooting however. With a little practice, you can reduce the movement even further. The top handle, I use that mainly for carrying it around. The side handles do the most for me when it comes to shooting and filming. Overall, if you are wanting a rig that won't break the bank and give results, this is a great choice.

Wet or Dry, It's a real work horse
It's been dunked in salt & fresh water, had enough attachments added to sink a ship and handled it all like that whats its designed for! I have been a professional underwater photographer/videographer for over 40 years and been looking for a system like this for a long time. Strong, light weight adaptable and won't cost a fortune. This system has it all. It is so good that I also bought it's smaller brother too, combined for less then than a many other systems that don't work as well. It is easy to adjust in so many ways, add all the gadgets you could dream of and still have room for more. Alone it is just a lightweight monster that screams add stuff to me and I can handle it and it does as you can see! I have used it in crashing surf, knocked around waves in sand and left in pools for hours and it has yet to show the abuse I have given it. It obviously can handle what I give it, then it can handle anybody. I really like the bars out front that prevent me from crashing my lens into things as I am filming. the top grab handle is great for lifting it in and out of the water or hand it to an assistant. Enough threaded 1/4-20 holes to make Swiss cheese look skimpy and simple easy adjustment levers for moving the rails. My only problem is people see it and ask all sorts of questions while I am trying to shoot, you won't be able to look like an amateur sneaking into places that don't want professionals sneaking in using this!

Excellent Cage But A Bad Design Feature? Excellent Customer Service.
Update 4/26/23: I was contacted by Pam on behalf of Neewer. She offered me a partial rebate and an explanation for why the knobs didn’t work. She thought I put the rod unit on upside down. I remember trying the rod holding unit both ways, but I am not a mechanical engineer so who knows? I bought a more expensive Neewer cage after trying two other brands that were a lot more expensive. I like the newer cage I now have. Because of the great customer service I have upped the rating of Neewer by one star. This is a wonderful cage. Strong, lightweight, versatile, well constructed. But I sent it back. Why? The knobs that tighten the sliding rods cannot be tightened because they hit the lower part of the cage structure. Thus, a key part of the cage cannot be used. I was terribly disappointed. But, back to Amazon it went and I bought a more expensive Camvate which hurt, because the Neewer was on sale at a great price. That doesn’t happen to me often. I could have kept the Neewer and just not used the rods, but it seemed to me I would be paying for something I didn’t get. At this point I’m thinking I should have kept the Neewer as the Camvate has a few problems with the mounting screws for the camera, costing me more money, but otherwise it is OK. Shopping is hard. No complaints!
Excellent construction at a much cheaper price point than the leading competition. Quality is good, and it looks like it will last. Very sturdy and stable platform for my DSLR camera, with plenty of attachment points for accessories. All holes appear to be threaded for 1/4-20 screws. I know some competitor models have some unthreaded holes as well. The plastic side handles even feel sturdy, and tighten down nicely. I will likely coat them with a light rubber spray to add some tackiness and extra grippiness to them, but they are also pretty good right out of the box. I do like the feel of the platform... it seems much easier to hold a stable handheld camera position with the side handles. Much steadier than using the camera's awkward grips, at least when video work is being done. Thanks to strategic cut-outs in the frame, it's still easy to see the LCD displays on the camera, and to remove and replace the battery on the underside, without removing everything from the mount. All-in-all, a well-designed and executed camera cage.

Fantastic build quality!
Set up this bad boy with my Canon EOS M and fit perfectly. Didn't come with any instructions on setting up but anyone with a brain can do it no problem. It only comes with 4 screws to mount the rods and handle so any other screws you want to use to mount accessories you need to buy but I just went to Home Depot and get about 10 for a $1.25. Feels like a very solid rig to mount my camera. Side Handle is plastic but feels very durable and is very ergonomic so it fits very well with your hands. Top handle is metal like the rest of the cage so its doesn't feel like its going to unscrew and drop anytime. Overall very good buy at this price.

Great for getting a feel for videography.
To those of you exploring this product, please know that this is a well made device that will help you have steadier video shots. This is NOT a stabilizer, meaning that your camera is locked down in position and even the movement of just walking will record some jitter. This is a good, inexpensive way to get a feel for how to move your arms and your body while recording live action. I actually returned this item simply because it didn’t fit my needs, but I will say that it is easy to assemble and it’s easy to use. I gave it 3 stars because I didn’t want to discourage any of you from purchasing this item. It just wasn’t what I needed.

Highly Recommend for Beginners
Received the Neewer Aluminum Alloy Cage and immediately put it together to test it out. The first thing I noticed when putting it together was that the screws it comes with do not smoothly screw into the holes. They grind and stick a little when being screwed in. However, overall easy and simple to assemble. Then there's the material. The Alloy metal is well painted and smooth. The top handle grip is firm and the rubber handle is comfortable. The only part of the build that I'm not entirely in love with is the side handles. They do the job well but the plastic makes the whole thing look cheap. Finally the improvement to camera stability is impressive. When comparing video stability to the camera without the cage. The difference is very noticeable. And all this with a very comfortable and ergonomic grip. Overall very pleased with the purchase and highly recommend for amateur filmmakers or event videographers.

I'll really explain why this CAGE IS worth 5 Stars
CINEMA RIGS. As a 25 year prof there is no bigger mystery than how rigs like this are $50, others looking identical are $2-300$, and anything brand is outrageous. A. Protection your camera, Doin' it's job. I shoot a D4, & a D7000( gripped). I'm a huge DIY, So I had 2 1/4" metal 1/2" spacers which I added at the bottom. My D4 fit but the spacers ($1) made it perfect, but I understand shooting a D4, full sized body is not the norm. Every single thing is 100% solid thick aluminum, finish is good. If u are a picky pickerson you might feel the plastic side handles are light duty, but I must say thsts not really how you'd hold a true Cinè rig. There are 1/4-20, holes everywhere and just behind the handles are 2, which I screwed 2 solid molded handles with 1/4-20, thread rod that fit straight through. I got mine on eBay 20 yrs ago but there are 100's , they are old Stephanie hand held grips, they have thin flower or triangle shaped nuts on each end, and they are perfect. Note. This is a Cage, 1 of several parts to a full shoulder or tri mount system, usually incorp rails, extensions etc, WHICH IS WHY FOR $50. You cannot beat this cage and handle. The handle can be placed in 4 spots on top or elsewhere, on mine I added 4 cold shoes, 2 with bubble levels 1, with a focus Puller 4" monitor, the other a video light . I added 1 PC sync hot shoe for photo work, but really there a spin release nut for camera so you can remover the entire rig easily. Lastly I've shot cinema, there's a weird bias to using hardware other than brand, but I gotta tell you I'm a business man, my work speaks for me, not my equip hardware. If paying $940 for a QR plate and release makes you feel better do it, but I know factually that MANY of these parts are simply rebranded and marked up, or maybe 1 piece is made of better grade, not $900 worth but, slightly better grade, and then marked up 1000%. Seriously side by side each piece matte boxes, a great $30 Cokin filter holder , and a $6 95mm metal mount, added to a newer $20 matte box and now your equal to $800, !!!!$800, matte boxes? It's ridiculous. Formatt a popular mid level matte box is $+200, with 1 flag, cuz it's a Bogen company. Restock, etc are no diff but built to a certain shape for popular cameras. This NEEWER has a battery drop out, has a cut out for wire outs, etc, it's simply just a great solid cage, and whether you choose to add a spacer or not a D4, fits in the cage fine, follow focus with an extension can be routed literally perfectly using 100 diff drug store 3m circular clamps. Hardware store it's a 40 cent rubber coated bolt down 1/2 diameter. These are all things you'd add, the cage is missing nothing, btw the handle has 1/4-20 hole both sides, and 3/8" to in front, for say a mic ball head or such, even a Cyclops light! A+ NEEWER great job on this cage! ***** Because people are so eager to assume I put the D7K mounted on a Kirk arca Swiss QR plate, for photos, to show how much clearance I added, as well as just the mounted cage ! PIC #2, shows how easily I added spacers

Great build quality adding super stability!
Great product and adds much needed stability to sensitive and fragile expensive DSLR’s! Although this sounds obvious it does add “much weight” to the camera and its portability! This is fine on short filming assignments but after awhile can be very demanding - But this is probably due to my excessive age! LOL! Well worth buying though - Very well built! Good for filmmakers on a budget!

Sencillamente perfecto
Sencillamente perfecto.
