McFarlane Toys 3D Animation From Japan Series 1 Action Figure Akira Kanedas Bike

Akira was the first animé, or animated film, that I ever watched as an adult. And it blew me away with its futuristic neo-Tokyo setting, and humanity on the brink of self destruction. Long story short, am also a figures collector so immediately set out to get these 4 Akira figures. Last to arrive was the one I wanted most, Kaneda's Motorcycle from McFarlane Toys. My favorite of the set, is rests nicely in its package while adorned with all of those little stickers Kaneda had on his red ride. Best of all, like all McFarlane figures, we get to see those little details we could never see before. Like where the bike and frond end meet, all the mechanics around that area. You can even see the speed display & 'dashboard'...VERY cool collectible.

Simply beautiful representation of Kaneda's bike. Unfortunately I've read reviews bashing this for being sold separately from Kaneda...ugh, please do your homework. Series 1 includes Kaneda and his bike as separate figures, while Series 2 had a different bike and Kaneda figure. There's also non-McFarlane versions out there as well. Be aware of what you're getting! Again, this bike is beautiful. As per MacFarlane, the detail is incredible and spot on. My only complaint is that I wish this had weathering like what we get with the Series 2 bike, but perhaps for the crazy fan they could attempt to paint that on their own. Excellent piece and a must have for any Akira fan.

I little strange that Kaneda and his bike are sold separately, but its easy enough to find them being sold together in a bundle. Since I'm a collector who doesn't open his figures I don't know if the wheels roll, but I suspect they don't. The front of the bike has lots of working hinges to raise and lower as it does in the movie, and while it has some dry brushing could use some more. As long as you don't spend any more than $25 for an unopened bike in mint condition I'd feel as though you were getting your money's worth.

The bike is awesome to look at, and it is obviously a figure and not an action figure... although i suppose a child could play with it...but its meant to be a collectable. but everyone to their own and how they spend their 25 bucks. Overall this is one of the best figures i bought because of the price tag and how much of a bargain it is for such a detailed bike. even if you didnt even like akira the bike itself is really cool looking.

This is a very good recreation of the motorcycle fetured in the anime film Akira that Kaneda rides. I fell in love with the look of this futuristic motorcycle the first time I watched the anime. I bought it at the same time as I bought the standing version of Kaneda from a comic store a long time ago. I'm actualy quite surprised that you can even find these for sale still. They do have the both of them in a set where Kaneda sits on the bike now but didn't when I bought this. I like the look of him standing better anyways. If you like the anime Akira, anime figures and their 'toys' and can find this motorcycle for a reasonable price then I would recommend it.
