It's THAT good. I am soooooooooo not the target demographic for this book. I'm close to forty years old and rarely watch youtube. Before this book I had no real clue who Shane Dawson was. I maybe had seen a few of his videos. My daughter begged me for the book and I'm excited whenever she wants to read. I came and looked at reviews before purchasing it and they are overwhelmingly positive with the exception is some parents. I decided to order and it and read it before she did. I freaking loved it. It literally had me laughing out loud (my strange addiction- which isn't a funny story per se but the visual picture I got of him in a bathroom sink screaming about the devil... well it threatens to send me into hysterics right now)and also crying. (Denny's and Death). I felt like I really learned a lot about him and I LIKED him. No his language isn't clean, yeah sometimes he's a little gross (dude has some intestinal ISSUES) , but he just comes across as genuine. If I tell my little girl that life isn't always gonna be so bad, I probably get my eye roll. Shane tells his funny/tragic stories and she has hope. My daughter is almost 11. As her mother I'm ok with her reading this. There was only one part I thought might be a little inappropriate but on the whole FOR MY CHILD I think is a great book. Of course you might have a different relationship with your child. My daughter is wise beyond her years. We discuss things like gay rights, politics and religion. She never doesn't ask a question she is wondering about. "Mom what's a prostitute? Mom what's masterbate mean? Mom why are people racist? Etc... I'm so glad I ordered this book. Shane Dawson has a new fan in me! This book was a personal purchase and I'm leaving a review so as to help future potential buyers. Review: I Hate Myselfie: An Honest Opinion from a Long-Time Viewer - INTRODUCTION : I have been watching Shane Dawson since his "Fred is Dead" video back in (I think) 2008. And oh my god, I love him so much. But enough fangirling, here is my review of his book: I Hate Myselfie. THE CONTENT WITHIN : Seriously, this was an extremely entertaining book. I enjoyed reading it for every second that I did. It was so wonderful and exciting, but at the same time it was sad and depressing. Shane put the perfect amount of every single emotion into this novel, and it is a definite pick-up. The second I heard about this book, I bought it. The waiting time was forever, but when I finally recieved it, I did not put the book down until I was finished. It only took me a day and a half to read (with school and work mixed in there), which brings me to my one and only complaint with this book: THE COMPLAINT WITH THIS BOOK : This book. Is not. LONG ENOUGH! Ugh! I really wanted more! Honestly, I really want Shane to write a hundred of these. I could literally sit here and read these books for years straight. This book made me laugh, cry, and everything inbetween, and I could not have asked for a better experience from his book. This fulfilled all of my expectations, and then added seven trillion more on top of that. This book is phenomenol, and I recommend that anybody who has ever heard of Shane Dawson to read it. You won't regret it. Guarenteed.

I Hate Myselfie: An Honest Opinion from a Long-Time Viewer
INTRODUCTION : I have been watching Shane Dawson since his "Fred is Dead" video back in (I think) 2008. And oh my god, I love him so much. I Hate Myselfie? Pure Genius (Mr. Ball's 4th Period)
Obscene internet personality Shane Dawson decided to recapture his life in an inspiring and highly comical collection of short essays. What sets Shaneโs book apart from others is his ability to laugh at himself and his past situations. Anyone who has ever heard Shane speak can tell this book was genuinely written by him, no ghost writers involved. The novel is crude, vulgar, and completely hilarious. So, why the word โmyselfieโ? Shane explains how he doesnโt necessarily hate himself; He hates the way his character is conveyed on the internet: loud, rude, and offensive. It so happens in reality he claims to be quite the introvert (wanting to spend days at a time watching Netflix and eating ice cream). Thus, he hates his โselfieโ. Seeing the effects of how others have received and criticized his online persona is really groundbreaking. Throughout his short essays, He talks about his unorthodox rise to fame through the power of YouTube and how itโs changed his views on both himself and reality. His rampant self-deprecation comically covers issues others might have on body image and self- esteem. Reading this book makes one realize that itโs okay to laugh at yourself and realize weโre all made differently. Shaneโs message is just to own your personality and body. Even if youโre dealt a terrible deck of cards in life, itโs never too late to change your destiny in this world.

Shane's book is as expected
I have loved Shane since day one. I started watching his videos since 2008. I remember specifically because that was the year that my parents split up because my dad cheated. Like Shane has said in his videos he hopes that even if someone has a s***ty time in their life that when we take a couple minutes to watch his videos that our worries will melt away for a bit of time. That was exactly what happened when I was 12 and my life was falling apart. I would watch his videos over and over while constantly telling my friends to watch him. I have always wanted to support him, from buying his music, watching his videos, and now buying his book. I had read this book in a day and I feel like its so much more meaningful to people if they have watching a lot of his videos. He is a very crass person and that comes out in the book. But anyone who has watched his videos wouldn't expect it to be anything less. This book is an easy read since its probably geared towards younger viewers. If you are debating about getting this book watch some of Shane's videos, preferably some of his old ones because he has some great videos that are stupid and funny, but also some that come right from the heart and you can tell he loves everyone who has supported him. I hope that you will help him because he has really influenced my life in a great way.

I've been following Shane for a few years already on his Youtube channel and I didn't know what to expect with that book given that every youtuber had been publishing a book at the same time about their "journey on youtube" or whatever. But this book was different and it is honestly really, really good! It made me laugh, and also tear up, it was very interesting and just a very good book that I absolutely recommend. You get to see a side of Shane that you haven't before on his Youtube channel, while still being entertained. You will laugh, maybe tear up also, and not want to put the book down.

I loved the book. The are happy moments, sad moments, awkward moments, fat people stories. Everything you would expect from a Shane Dawson book. Most definitely a must read.

With the recent trend of Youtubers writing books, I was at first a bit "disappointed" that Shane, someone who usually makes fun of the masses, would join it. However, I decided to buy the book because I find Shane to be truly different from all the other Youtubers and probably the one who worked the most for it, as for everything in his life. And I was not let down ! This book is incredible, in so many ways. First of all, Shane succeeds to perfectly balance emotion and laughter, something that is also present on his Youtube channels. We get to learn about a guy with a difficult life but who doesn't complain, doesn't play the victim, someone who has a heart of gold and went through everything with a smile on his face. One of the things I enjoyed the most in the book is the fact that I felt as if Shane was directly speaking to me. Sometimes, when someone starts writing, they have a different "voice" because they want to conform to a certain way of writing, but here, Shane is his true self and that allows the reader to enter his world, to be his friend. But I still want to point out that Shane is a very, very good writer; I hope he writes more! Finally, I think what touched me the most was the fact that you could feel the book was for his fans (and for everyone who needs a little help). Shane has always been really close to his fans and here, in this book, each chapter was illustrated by a fan art, showing once again that the relationship they have matters. This is one of the best thing I've bought in a long time, I recommend it to everyone, especially Shane's fans!
