It can dry out the hair but if you use lots of coconut oil after you have applied it, during several washes it will gradually come out and not be as drying. I use coconut oil that is super oily to maintain the dryness. It do not last as long due to this fact. I apply it every 2 months to just my edges and every 6 months to my entire head it would last for 2 months on each occasion. I used perm dye and a rinse before which are chemical based and was taxing on my hair. I lost hair using those products but with this natural product it retains have and conditions it initially, it do promote a nice shine but is drying, go figure but with coconut oil it is perfect for me. I finally found something to cover grey that is natural. Beware!! there are 2 types of this product on the market, the other is a chemical base. It has the same box but different words. The words on the box needs to read as seen here.. Conditioner. I am sensitive to chemicals so I cannot use the other type they make.
