Thought for certain it said Made in USA. Package says CCP China! Arrrgh! **Q: I usually melt cut ends using my heat gun or a lighter, but with the jute is this safe? or do you suggest a better method?** A: There is no problem with the jute cord, when you melt the end with a lighter it will burn with the rest of the strands and snuff out when they do. If you have loose strands that extend past the outer layer and melt them back with a heat gun, the jute cord won't melt so you should trim it flush before sealing the end with a heat gun if you want everything neat. BUT there is an issue with sealing the end of their other Survivorcord - the kind that has the wire strand because the wire strand doesn't burn or melt it will always end up poking out the end when you seal the end of a cut length of cord. I think Titan is in the process of dropping the wire in favor of the kevlar cord used in this newest survivorcord, but I haven't seen them say so and they are still selling Survivorcord that has the wire strand. **Q: Is this only available in black? I’d prefer a more survival orientated high visibility orange or even relative color.** A: We currently only offer our SurvivorCord XT parachute cord in Black, but we are planning to offer more colors and lengths in the first quarter of 2020. **Q: Is the listed strength rating the breaking strength or working load limit? if it is the wll, what is the design factor to which it is rated?** A: For all paracords, the safe working load is going to be about 10% of the rated Tensile Strength. Full stop. I have been using Titan’s Survivor cords for a few years now and have enjoyed the strength, durability, and convenient extras woven into the cord. For camping and hiking this is the only cord I carry. With the introduction of their 3rd generation, Type IV 750 SurvivorCord XT Titan has truly upped the bar for this type of cord. I picked up a 100’ hank of this new line in February and my 5 month review is as follows: - The 110 lb. Kevlar strand is great for use as a friction saw and is a fantastic multi-use utility line. I could spend half a day listing the things I’ve used it for. - I really like the dark green braided fishing line over the previous monofilament line they had in the previous generation of SurvivorCord, really was able to use it as dental floss after catching and filleting a nice bass caught with the cord on a pole cut from a sturdy stalk of cane using the friction saw method mentioned above. - The waxed jute does make for good tinder, when needed. - The red and white strand is useful for marking branches for orienting or an aid for tracking. The final two things I’d like to mention is that 1.) I was afraid the SurvivorCord would be a bit stiff, but found that by Titan replacing the 30 AWG wire for the Kevlar and substituting the monofilament for braided fishing line, this is actually more flexible than their previous generation SurvivorCord. 2.) I am truly amazed at how well the internal strands have held up to the Sun, rain, and other elements prevalent in the tropics. Most para cord molds, breaks down because of constant sun exposure, or just plain rots out - not this stuff my friend. To test Titan’s claims, I used some strands to lash together a simple tripod that has been exposed to the conditions above continuously 24x7 for four months (at the time of this review) and I see no signs of mildew, weakening, or deterioration! Personally, I hope they can eventually braid out some other colors such as reflective orange for overt campsites, Coyote or Dessert tan, Red, and the gunmetal Gray all of which they offered in the previous generation SurvivorCord. I hope this review has contributed to helping people in their quest for the best. This cord is everything Titan claims it to be, and more.
