I enjoyed this revisit to the Randall and Hopkins series
I enjoyed this revisit to the Randall and Hopkins series. This dvd was an entertaining slant on the original one, which I enjoyed in my childhood. The plots were quite original and slant of adding a new character to the series in the guise of my favourable Doctor Who Tom Baker gave it a new feeling, rather than a rework of the original and Reeves and Mortimer did a great job on the two main characters. The talented Emilia Fox made for a convincing Ginie character. Overall I enjoyed watching this.

Spookily Good
I loved Vic and Bob's take on the original Kenneth Cope/Mike Pratt 60's vehicle and there really should have been a further series, had series 2 not gone way over the top with some of the guest stars OTT acting. Series 1 is a joy and worth adding to your collection, particularly if you want to see how different but the same it is to the original. BTW, I bought series 2 as well for the set and because car crash TV is always fun to watch!

randall & hopkirk mixed review
the storylines are mixed, some episodes are exceptional and well performed others a bit flat and well out of step with the rest? as a series i enjoyed it. being a fan of the original i was sceptical but (naff acting ability aside) the duo were very entertaining i would give it a 9/10 jeanie's character is a bit all over the place though, one minute she appears strong independent woman and then a bit dim. despite inconsistency with script jeanie is my fav.

Vic & Bob Prove Critics Wrong
When it was announced that Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer were going to appear as Randall & Hopkirk, they were pretty much written off from the get-go. No one believed that they could remake a much loved series from the Sixties. Rather than copy the original in every aspect, they - along with writer Charlie Higson - made subtle changes that made the series their own. The first series of Randall & Hopkirk is rich with humour, wit and a few thrills. Tom Baker threatens to steal the show in his vignettes but that aside, I would recommend this DVD to anyone interested in easy viewing with a few laughs thrown in.

Loud buzzing so unwatchable
This dvd is unwatchable as there is a loud deep buzzing sound all through the first episode and in fact I stopped watching it after 10 minutes as it was sometimes louder than the dialogue.
