It is VERY quiet, down around the 15-20 decibel range even under vacuum (around 65db is human voice rating). It sits still on my workbench and doesn't wander around even though it is very light. I use in a mining/refining operation and have no complaints about how well it functions. Reaches 22+ inches Hg in about 1 second with a 3/8" plugged hose about 4 feet long. I normally only operate at 5-7" Hg so can't speak to pull down times for HVAC. Very impressed for the price.Cons:No real cons, but just potential design concerns. It works great as is, but if it had the capability of venting the exhaust via hose to the outdoors it would be perfect. I deal with acids and base chemicals and the vapors have to be exhausted thru a vent hood or the pump has to be outdoors. No visible port for the exhaust could be seen. I don't want to leave the unit outdoors, so I need to build a fume hood box for the pump that will pull the exhaust from the vacuum pump into the vent hood.General view: Great little low cost vacuum pump. Chemical resistant, Quiet, inexpensive, and portable if needed. I would buy again if I need to at some time in the future. Time will tell. I only have about two weeks with this unit, but if it continues to work as well as it has so far, I have an amazing find. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works for me! *by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2021* Works well. I have used this to pull -30+ vacuum while evacuating air conditioning systems. Great value for the money. If I had one complaint (maybe all electric vacuum pumps do this?) There is a very fine oil mist from the breather on top of the pump. I draped a shop towel over the breather and it significantly reduced this. Not a huge issue for me since it's used in a detached garage but worth mentioning. I have also used this to diagnose/test vacuum operated components on vehicles. Most recently the vacuum operated 4X4 system on my truck. I have approximately 10 hours on my pump so far with the included oil. It's getting due for a change but I see no reason I won't get a few years out if this pump with proper maintenance. It doesn't seem to get any more hot that I would expect.
