A must for Golf and Golden Bear fans
Although Jack writes in a very workman-like style, I loved this book. Heavy in detail and insight into the game, I found it hard to put down.

Jack Nicklaus Tells His Story
In the 1960s and 1970s, Jack Nicklaus rewrote golf's record books. He won eighteen professional major championships, still the record, and won each of the four majors at least three times. In this very well-written autobiography, the Golden Bear looks back at his life in golf, from his discovery of the game in childhood to his unforgettable triumph at the 1986 Masters.Nicklaus recounts each of the tournaments from which he emerged with a major championship, his two U.S. Amateur titles, and other tournament wins. He sets forth his philosophy on golf, and indicates what he thinks it takes to be a successful PGA Tour pro. The author also discusses his favorite courses, offers some thoughts on some of the golfers he competed against, and looks at the role of luck in golf.Nicklaus had a full life off the course as well, and he talks about his family life, his business ventures, and his work in course design. The book closes with an appendix of tournament statistics. As recently as a few years ago, most golf observers considered it close to a given that Tiger Woods would surpass the author's record for majors won, but that proposition is not a lead-pipe cinch today. Twenty years from now, this book may still be the story of the man who owns golf's most important record.

Too Long, Too Detailed
I read two third of this book and stopped it. It is an interesting autobiography of Jack Nicklaus, but it is too long, too detailed and too redundant. Though it is admirable that he remembered the details of 15th hole of the 1959 amateur championship, nobody cares about how he played each hole in his long golf career. He should write a much shorter autobiography emphasizing the lessons he learned from his golf career.
