Star Wars Instrumental Solos (Movies I-VI): Clarinet, Book & Online Audio/Software (Pop Instrumental Solos Series)

I really like this book. I recently got back into playing the saxophone and this was one of the first music purchases I bought for it. The music is overall pretty simple. It comes with 16 songs, as it has listed. The great bonus for me is the CD that comes along with the book. The CD has 33 tracks on it...a warm-up track to start with, and then 2 tracks for each song. The first track of each song is an orchestra playing and you can play along with them. The second track is that same orchestra, only without any saxophone. Essentially you become the saxophonist in the orchestra. The big plus for me was learning some songs from a major movie that pretty much everyone has seen. When I play these songs (with or without the CD), it's fun to actually have the person listening to me go, "Oh! I know that song!". Definitely recommend.

i bought this for my son to play on his clarinet. The music is a little tougher than I thought but he is slowly learning to play it. It is a fun way to help him practice his clarinet. This is not a beginner book more like intermediate.

A great way to get back into playing my clarinet. Finally, I can play the music I always wanted to. Exceptionally adapted to the clarinet. Personal Favorites is Across the Stars (Love Theme for Anakin and Padme) and of course the Imperial March (Vader's Theme). Book is not really for beginners, but this could easily be used as an incentive for a younger student to get playing. The CD is good quality and will heighten the experience to play with a "orchestra",

Most songs are not in their original key from the movies. Out of the ones I've checked so far, "Star Wars Main Theme", "The Imperial March", "Cantina Band", and "Princess Leia's Theme", only "Cantina Band" is in the original key from the movies. The other three songs are in a different key than what is in the movies. As a book advertised as an "Instrumental Play-Along", this is disappointing and misleading. What the publishing company means by "Play-Along" is that the songs can be played along with the recordings from their own website or app, which are of real musicians playing the pieces in the altered keys as written in the book. These recordings are good, and are why I still rate this as four stars. There should have been a notice or disclaimer clearly stating that these songs are not in their original keys. There is a notice on the back cover that the wind instrument versions of these songs are in the same keys, but the strings versions are not compatible. That should have tipped me off right there, but they also should have been more clear about it to avoid confusion and frustration. Otherwise, the pieces are well adapted, the available play along tracks are fun, and the book has some neat artwork pages in the middle of it. It's a shame the songs aren't in their original keys, but, if you go into it knowing they aren't and that isn't a concern for you, then this book is certainly enjoyable.

This book was great! It had all the iconic songs I wanted to play from the prequel and original trilogies. Plus, the songs are fully compatible with various other instruments. The cd is a perfect example to follow while playing a song, and now that I've finished the book, I can listen to the songs any time I want.

Purchased for my horn playing daughter. She loves it and it encourages her to practice more often because she loves playing the songs. For a person who has played just 3 years, some of the songs are a little bit tough, but there are plenty of other songs that are easy to play.

My son plays the saxaphone and was wanting something different to play besides what he does in school. Being a huge Star Wars fan, he really wanted this music. I was worried that it might be too difficult, but he has loved the challenge. The CD is very helpful for him. I have heard him in his room practicing a song, stopping to listen to the CD, and then saying, "Oh, that's how it goes!" We know what the song sounds like, but not necessarily how the saxaphone will sound. He is learning to play one of the songs now as a solo piece for honor band try outs.

My 11 year old daughter has been playing the saxophone for almost two (2) years. Her dad already as Star Wars fan turned her into one with the new movie release. She was able to pick up from day one and play a couple of songs and of course some of the songs are a little advanced for her right now but she still loves it! By the time the next movie releases I am sure she will have the songs mastered!

Disappointing. The music was so simplified that high notes were changed to a lower register making the melodies sound strange. The books didn't integrate any more than sharing the same melody, no harmonizing of parts provided. THe back ground track were also a bit cheezie...midi sounding.

After struggling to find tabs online I bought this book and it hasn't disappointed, other than the fact it misses some on my favourite themes but it includes all the most popular ones that you would need
