This is an excellent product. I bought one to put next to my tub, and was so happy with that that I bought another to put inside. The brushed stainless will be easy to keep clean, and the strength is excellent. Of course the grab bars in place will be no stronger than the mounting, which of course is a separate need that will vary from one place to another. The availability of the SecureMount anchors was a key in my decision to go with this brand. I had no problems with installation; I have considerable experience in home building and in drilling masonry. I do believe that a workmanlike job of putting them in requires a moderate level of skill and experience, beyond that of an average homeowner.

As you get older, you need a bit more stability getting in and out of the tub. But, as a safety feature, no matter what your age, you could use a handle stepping in and out of the tub to prevent slipping. These bars are perfect for the job. The bars come with screws to install on the wall. Normally, you just locate a stud where you wish to mount the bar and screw it to the wall. Now, I live in a mobile home, and as you may know, the walls aren't that thick to start with. I installed my bars by making an aluminum backer plate (3" x 4"), drilled through the wall, and mounted the bar to the tub side with the plate on the opposite side. They are firm and support us getting in and out of the tub. I put one at each end of the tub because we liked the one so much, but sometimes you just use the other end, too. I may end up putting another one on the back wall for extra support when using the shower in the tub. These bars are made well, look nice, sturdy, and easy to install. Oh, did I say inexpensive? We are very happy with a pair of these grab bars giving us extra support in the tub.

Moen quality, better built than china produced brands. Use the moen wall mounts if needed for peace of mind. Don’t go cheap on a bar that could save you!

This shower grab bar is well made but the screws that came with it had a nice head but a very small Phillips screw pattern and a couple of them stripped out on me while I was screwing them in. Stainless screws are soft anyway but if they had put a larger and deeper Phillips head pattern on them they would hold up better when screwing them in. I removed the screws that the old grab bar had. They had a smaller head on them but a bigger Phillips head pattern and I had no problem with them stripping out on me. I would have used the old screws instead of the ones that came with the Moen Grab bar if I could get the stripped out screws out of the wall. If I ever have to replace this grab bar I will have to grind the heads off the screws. Simple things like this can make jobs like this so much easier.

This bar was very easy to install vertically next to the tub enclosure, to assist with getting out of a bath or entering/leaving a shower. It is rock solid mounted to a stud. Use a stud finder, although usually there is one right next to the edge of the enclosure. The included long Philips head screws are not good, just asking to be stripped, so I substitute 3" deck screws with a Torx head. Using a small impact driver they go in like a hot knife through butter! The covers just snap over the mounting plate and look like a professional put it in! Took 10 minutes!

I have installed four of these in two bathrooms. They definitely add a measure of security, especially for older people. Installation for me was quite simple because I have the experience and tools for this type of project. Less equipped and experienced individuals, not the hands-on type, might need some help, expecially if installing over tile, but most any craftsman friend should be able to handle this for those who have such. I like the 1-1/2" bar size. The bar is not knurled. It is smooth finished, but for me, quite adequate. I did not use the furnished screws because there is no need for rounded-head screws that will be covered, and the tiny phillips sockets on those furnished wouldn't handle much pressure without stripping. However, hex-head screws or screws requiring square or star drivers will all work in the heads are large enough. Those furnished are 2" long. I used some 2" and some 2-1/2", depending upon the thikness of the tile or the other type wall material. I suggest having a stud finder, a drill with assorted bits, for me, a hammer drill and concrete bits, a level and a pencil to mark where the hidden studs are located. Unfortunately, most US contruction has studs on 16" centers and these 24" bars will need to be mounted vertically on one stud or sloped between two - unless installing on a dry wall and fastening onto a board that will bridge three studs. Figure for yourself, but paying $116 for Amazon installer is to me, goofy!

Product has two flanges with multiple perforations so you can find align it with the studs in your wall. It is very important to screw both ends into wooden studs to they will support the weight if someone grabs on the rail while falling. The trickiest part is identifying where the studs are. I purchased an expensive stud finder because I have an old house built before modern framing distances were standardized. The product I used worked well, detecting the studs through the ceramic tile. If you are planning to drill holes in porcelain or ceramic, use a diamond drill bit so you don't crack the tiles. The best technique for me is to drill the hole an an angle because the bit will try and skip away from your hole marking. Once you have one edge started, straighten the drill and drill perpendicular to the wall. I had to use a narrower drill bit to hollow out the screw path because old pine is hard as nails. Not like the timber you get in lumber stores today. I put one hole in one end, they aligned the opposite end with its hole. This way I assured that both ends of the grab bar are anchored in wood. Installation was really easy and the bar looks great in my shower/tub.

Actualización: 6 meses de uso y sin quejas, eso si, lo seco cada que se moja. Actualización: mas de un año de uso, no es que le de mucho pero sigue bien; le dejaba el trapo con que lo seco colgado para secarse y se le hizo una mancha, nada exagerado, aun no sé con que limpiarla.

Muy buena para cualquier tipo de personas que necesiten de poder tener una ayuda extra. Como recomendación dependiendo donde se pondrá es recomendable cambiar los taquetes qué vienen eso a mi gusto, por unos mas resistentes y de mejor marca. Fuera de eso muy buena compra.
