Great Machine - worth the price for my home
Great machine. Works as expected. I live in a condo near Biscayne Bay with a lot of glass and this makes it very easy to keep the windows and glass terrace panels clean. I have 7 4’x10’ glass sliders and 30’ of glass terrace wall. That’s about 900 sq ft of glass counting both sides. I (or rather it) can clean all of that with very little input from me in a few hours. It’s ALMOST as simple as plug it in, stick it to the window and press go. Value: if I had someone come clean all that glass it would be over $100. If I use this device once a month, it’s paid for in six months. (I live in a bay, windows get dirty fast and often). I would eagerly recommend this to anyone who has large rectangular windows to clean. I’m sure it would work on traditional windows with mullions, too, but it would require more attention. Also would be great for store-fronts. Cons: when it does “get stuck” i don’t think it can resume from where it left off. Not a significant con. Doesn’t get stuck often.

You don't know how bad I wished...
UPDATE!! After several months, the manufacturer contacted me and offered me a $20 gift card to remove my original review below. Hmmm... You don't know how bad I wanted this product to work. Two large homes, both 3-stories, 130 panes of glass each. I've been spending $780 for each home twice a year for a pro to clean the windows. I had high hopes for this nifty product, but it just doesn't work. The technology is cool, it's simple to turn on, it stays stuck to the window and the robotics magically detect the window size and shape and direct the machine over every inch of the window. But it doesn't clean. If the window has anything other than a very light coat of dust, it just doesn't clean it, even after two passes. I used it as directed, used their cleaner product, and it's a non-starter. This cool gadget sprays a very fine micro mist ahead of its path, then sweeps the area with what is basically a micro-fiber pad. No heavy mist, no scrubbing back and forth to get the crud off. The vacuum feature suctions the machine on to your window, but doesn't "vacuum" off the dirt. If you had a foot square micro-fiber cloth mounted on a flat piece of cardboard and gently slid it over your window after an extremely light mist of Windex, you would simulate the cleaning action of this product. Try it. It just doesn't work on the inside or outside. Won't remove a light finger print on the inside or even light waterspots on the outside. Dang, I wished this worked! In ten years, we'll all be washing our house windows with a robotic product, but the technology isn't there yet. Gotta love Amazon's return policy.

Easy to use, Works very good
The Hobot -298 works extremely well. The micro cloth really does a fine job and the unit seems well built. Its auto dispenser emits a fine spray as it works its way over the window surface. It works best on large windows. Small windows seem to confuse the sensors. Our small non opening windows are recessed into the wall significantly as that is the design the builder went with. It looks great but it seems to cramp the Hobots style a bit. On the large picture windows and on tall vertical windows such as storm doors, it works excellently. Also, for oversized bathroom mirrors it does a fine job too. I have heard the argument that a person can do a window cleaning faster than the robot, and this is true. But with the robot doing the window, you can ca doing other things at the same time. It increases productivity. Example; While the robot was cleaning the very large living room window, I was doing laundry and watching dinner on the stove. A beep alerts you to when the Robot is done or needs attention. It has not fallen off a window yet. It has battery backup should power be lost. A safety tether is included but using it is not convenient because what are you going to hook it onto? Unless you have a curtain rod above the window, there is nowhere to fasten the rope to. I took it off. I will get another unit for outside, but probably not this model. This one is pricey so a less expensive model can get dirty outside and live in the garage when not being used.

Large, medium and small Hobot does them all.
From small, medium to large windows Hobot does them all. We've struggled for ten years with our windows and were never satisfied with our hand cleaning results. We have a lot of different size windows and Hobot is excellent on all of them, but is outstanding on our larger ones where it seems to do the best because of more mobility movement. Our windows are now the best they have ever looked and we could not be more pleased. The price point has always been the sticking point for us, but it sure beats a broken bone or worse from a ladder fall or the cost of a professional cleaner. 3/4 of our windows are two and three stories high. We haven't started on those yet, but on the lower level where we can reach with two feet on the ground it did excellent and we are now proud of our windows. We are so proud we are going to name our Hobot "Sparkle." If Sparkle has longevity and holds up well without costly repairs or replacement then it will be money well spent. Highly recommend anyone that is hesitant to go ahead and bite the price bullet as we don't think you will ever be sorry. If you do decide to get one make sure you do as Hobot says by either dusting your windows first with the Hobot and blue pads (optional, not included) or with a swifter if this is the first time using the Hobot. We followed the Hobot protocol and could not be happier! We love the included liquid cleaner and will always be using that instead of plain water. My only suggestion to Hobot is to make a duel pair where they will synchronize with each other and do the inside and outside windows at the same time as this would be a perfect set up for us! Think about doing this Hobot and and then send us royalties. Ha! Sparkle needs a roomie named Shine.

Disapointing for the price
Disapointing for the price I was hoping for a Roomba-like window cleaner considering the price but despite all the marketing, it seems to be a pretty mediocre bump-style robot that runs a cloth across the window. If that’s all you need, it does it well enough. The suction was quite grippy, didn’t feel like there was any significant likelihood of falling off under normal use but its ability to find the edges of the windows was low at best. The cleaning fluid is basically a gimmick, it sprays out a regular squirt of water that hits a 1-2 inch area which would be okay if it actually cleaned an inch line at a time, but it cleans a 8-10 inch swath so most of the window does not get clean. If you spray the window ahead of time to make it moist enough to actually clean the treads on the belt slip. If you wet the cloth, it wont stay wet long enough to actually allow the window to be cleaned. I bought this expecting to set it on a window, tell it to clean and come back in a half hour to come back to fairly clean window but after a half-dozen runs of trial and error on different windows its just a streaky mess I have to go back to clean anyway. The bot requires too much babysitting to be relevant, it would take me less time to get a ladder and clean the windows manually than to use this. I've obviously got no problem paying for a real solution but this is not it.

Depends
During COVID, I do not want to have a window cleaning crew inside my home so I'm looking for a way to do the inside windows myself. We have many, very large (6.5 feet X 10.5 feet) windows along the entire front and back of our house and the inside windows have not been cleaned for over a year. I decided to try this in the hope that it would do the job for me as I'm terrible at cleaning glass but have very high standards on how I like my windows to look. If you are a perfectionist, like me, this will not produce a satisfactory job. It functions well, although slowly, and is quite loud when it's working. I set it up and went to do other things until it beeped that it was complete so I could ignore the slow speed and the noise. I followed the instructions completely and even went further; I dry cleaned the windows twice before doing a wet cleaning with a clean pad and used undiluted HOBOT cleaning solution. I tried every cleaning pattern available. The result would be fine on a cloudy day but on a sunny day, streaks are obvious. I even tried wet cleaning the same windows multiple times with alternative patterns in an effort to get the HOBOT to clean its own streaks but it just wasn't able to do that to my satisfaction. I did not try HOBOT outside and I imagine that would be produce even worse results as the windows are far dirtier outside although they were cleaned professionally only a few months ago. If you're not a perfectionist, this might be fine for you but if you're looking for sparkling, streak-free windows on a sunny day, look for a good squeegee and pole instead.

Not practicle
it does not clean Glass, it help of maintaining the Cleaned Glass to stay clean, meaning if there is only light dust, it can help, but it does n to clean dirty glass

Cleans those hard to reach places- Windows Mirrors and Shower glass
It did take me a while to figure out the process and it is important to purchase extra cleaning pads, however we have tall windows that are a pain to clean and this worked great. We do think dusting the windows first with a swiffer dry dust is the best as it keeps the pads clean longer, but this unit got the corners easier than my husband and I have been able to using a 20 foot ladder and a squeegee and towels. we used the tether but have so far not had a problem. The cleaning pads do get dirty quickly but that is because our windows on the inside were much dirtier than I realized. The windows are clean and polished. The system does give you an alert if the pads are dirty and you need to make sure you give it some room away from the side of the window to get started. The more I have used it the better it is. Yes, I'm looking at other AI items to buy, I've over 50 and I deserve to have someone or something else do the dirty work:)
