The Book of Random Tables 3: Fantasy Role-Playing Game Aids for Game Masters (The Books of Random Tables)

Exactly what I needed
This is great for me. Yes, you could make your own, and yes you could plan all that you need to as a GM/DM. However, I love that I don't have to do any of that. I have acquired several of this author's books and use them to help make game nights more interesting and I also write my own single-player campaigns and love that I can use these random tables to keep myself on my toes.

More Food Than You Can Handle
I recently purchased all three editions of The Book of Random Tables, and I'm more than pleased with all three. The third book has some very useful random encounter tables for deserts, woodlands, and roads, as well as more of the usual filling rooms and storage with sensible random items. My favorite table in this book is probably tied between the 'Thieves Guild Quests' table and the 'Epitaphs' table - being able to quickly nab some inspiration for when players decide to read a random gravestone is invaluable! Whether you have players who do unexpected things (and who doesn't) or want to add some touches to your planning stage, these books are all steals at 8 dollars each.Pros:Beautiful cover art.Thin and Light - no wasted space.Easy to read.Creative and useful tables.Cons:No Table of Contents, but the book is nothing but the tables, so tabbing it is easy. This book is the first one that I'd say has a bit of padding. Food tables are not inherently bad to include, but a whopping nine of the ones in this book deal directly with foodstuffs. That kind of emphasis feels a little excessive.

I find them useful; you might too
I bought all 4 of these books. All together they are not bad and have some useful tables. Some of the tables I found pointless and useful only in niche situations but they could end up useful nonetheless.

Awesome tables to keep the game rolling!
These tables are so helpful when your players ask those classic questions like... "What's this mundane, random NPCs name? What's their story? Tell me about their family. What food is on the table?"It's quick, easy to use, and with some bookmarks, you won't hold up your game at all should you need to whip this out at the table. You can also use it if you need to fill your towns or dungeons up with flavor beforehand.

Well worth the money
I was just hoping for a small list of tables that could be used for my game and boy did it deliver! this is a must have for any DM or GM who just wants to add a little unpredictability to their games. The food and drink section is perhaps my favorite part. No longer will my PC's eat "a common meal" or sip "ale" but instead teas, and a veritable cellar of beers and wines with all mannor of fruits and vegetables. GET THIS BOOK IF ONLY FOR THIS MENU!!!

A lifesaver for DM's
For those DM'S that would rather wing an adventure, there is no better source. Just roll for adventure details.

Good reference material to add detail or ramdonisation to your campaigns
I bought Random Encouters 1 to 5 in one go, so this review is about all 5. I find these collectively a great resource to help add content and detail to any campaign. Do you need all 5? Probably not, and if you wanted to get them one at a time then start with 1. 1 to 3 are the best, if feels like when they did 4 & 5 they started to make up lists for the sake of making up lists.

These books have been very useful. Every DM/GM should have them.
I’ve bought all 3 of this series of books and have used all several times. Barely a session goes by when I don’t refer to at least one of them for something. I think any/every DM should have these as they’ll get use and can help when your players take s left turn instead of going right.
